Review: Instant end to squirrel raids from below - After browsing through the many options I went for this device. My feeders are hanging from a 96" inch tall 5/8" diameter double shepherds hook which I probably had to relocate three times to ensure enough distance from objects that squirrels could leap from. I have cedar tray feeders which the birds love and squirrels can easily land on. I live deep in a rural maple and oak tree forest in and my record for a communal visit was 7 squirrels at the same time, but normally I had 5 at a time fighting over the trays and anything that they knocked to the ground. Some of these squirrels are the size of small cats. The squirrels were no deterrent to the birds getting their fill, and the squirrels would not eat everything in the feeders, but I was having to refill the trays every day. After the final move of the pole I was very irritated to see the squirrels just climb up the pole and scramble onto either feeder. On rainy days they would have a comical 2 steps forward, one step back climb and slide back down the pole but eventually made it to the top. Time to upgrade defensive strategy. Installing the wrap took less than a minute. The clamp for this device is nothing more than a base for the wrap to rest upon. I installed it in about 30 seconds. Just back both screws out most of the way to ensure you can get the clamp around the pole, remove one screw completely, wrap the clamp around the pole, reinsert the second screw and tighten both screws until the clamp is very secure. The wrap goes together easily above the clamp and is free to move. No issues. I mounted it a little over five feet off the ground and about 6 inches below the feeders. I am not in a position to see my feeder during every waking hour but on days I telecommute I can see it. At least thirty squirrels climbed the pole, got inside the wrap, backed up a little and grabbed the wrap to scale over it. At that point the wrap just tilts downward and the squirrel drops to the ground. Because the wrap is nice sturdy metal it rebalances itself on the clamp. Rinse and repeat. It is supposed to move. The back deck on my house is 20 feet tall and 12-15 feet away from the feeders. After being foiled by the wrap I had a steady parade of squirrels climbing the deck posts and trying to determine if jumping onto the feeders was possible. Eventually after much pacing and gnashing of teeth they descended by climbing back down onto my fence. It is one of the most humorous and gratifying things to see. After 3 days and up to now I only have juvenile squirrels still trying to climb the pole or foraging under the feeders. The cat sized squirrels don't even bother coming in my yard now looking for bird seed. This device is so simple that I could have made it myself from scrap sheet metal I have in my garage. And other than being made in India with transport costs and a middle man to consider, it seems a bit over priced. But compared to the time and likely small nicks I would have given myself cutting and bending the sheet metal, combined with the magnificent operational efficiency, entertainment value, and curtailment of wasting bird seed, I would buy it again. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it for ease of install, durability and 100% effectiveness.
Review: Little plate of horror! - Why a" little plate of horror"?. This is my tale of woe.... Our squirrels, they are the bane of my existance, literally. I put out suet for the woodpecker, I feed the cardinals, finches, migratory birds top of the line organic bird feed, and who is the first ones to show up?, every squirrel for ten city blocks, thats who shows up, for dinner no less. The chipmunks hear the dinner bill as well, along with the black birds and crows, the family of starlings whom reside next door. Heck, I might as well throw in a mommy woodchuck and her two siblings who live under my shed!. Something had to be done, do i trap them?, in no kill cages of course, then drive 47 miles out in the wilderness where i think it's safe to release the little varmits?, noooo, not my luck. Here i am, in a field, surrounded by cow poop piles as far as the eye can see. all alone, nervous. I am just getting ready to lift the little trap door to release the furry critters, first i tell them, you are "free!", then, "the free ride is over!", you little bas!@#ds.. As i bend down to release the door i hear a "FRAP and PHIFFF", was that me?, or you!,i chuckled to my self, then i hear it again, "FRAP and PHIFFF". Now i was concerned, "FRAP and PHIFFF"..."FRAP and PHIFFF"... FRAP and PHIFFF... and who should appear?, the farmer, "eagle eye" Vaversacky, he is the fortunate owner of this property whom i have just unloaded my unwanted cargo!!. Gasp!, BUSTED i tell myself, but to my relief he is driving a 1899 model year tractor, which i am an authority on, steals wheels churning up the dirt like an ocean wave cresting on a beach. The exhaust, this smoke, it was like a etheral columb, belonging to, no less than Mr. Death himself!!!. Smoke and a wisp of skunk scent, come to find out later that was me, i was shocked back to the here and now. I saw that the farmer, Vaversacky, raising his near skeletal arm in the air, and gestured that i was number one!, i was stunned into a motionless denial of my guilt. Still i hear... "FRAP and PHIFFF"... "FRAP and PHIFFF". I look towards my vehicle, i look at he farmer, on his 1899 year model tractor, my heart is tripping, over clocked, in my throat with fear, he WILL call the law, if i'm caught. My mind racing, all thoughts of dread and doom entering the cobwebbed recesses of my brain, i see tomorrows headlines; "55 year old man caught tresspassing on land owned by farmer, Vaversacky, this fine day". I jumped up, I grabbed the catch and release trap, and to my amazement i find myself running, yes i am running, flat out towards the barb wire fence, tears streaming out of the corner of my eye's from this panicked flight of high velocity and to the relative safety of my truck!. HA! HA! i yell in triumph, i'm not but 2 feet from the fence when it happens.......................i trip on on a ant hill. To say that i was mortified, perhaps even traumatized, is an under statement of epic proportions. Before i even hit the ground i knew, just knew this was going to be my final destination, destination you might wonder?............ the barb wire fence,.. with my face in the ant hill and my arse caught in the fence, it was the wedgey from hell, i mutter, under my breath, @##$% ^&!$%^ as i try to crawl the last few feet to my waitng vehicle. Now this is a postion i had NOT compensated for, ants chewing at my face, my neck and arms, a great portion of my under wear caught in the barb wire fence, and to top it off my pants had slid to my knee's!!. Here i am, prostrated, caught red handed, and in THIS position, i start trembling. I try to tear my self away from this unwarranted attack on my arse.......I'm making head way, i pant, i grunt, i may even have flatulated, but i am making ground, then i felt it... more than heard it, the ripping of cloth and flesh. Farmer, Vaversacky, is just a mere 60 feet away. I hear his tractor, it is throbbing in tune to my racing heart, "FRAP and PHIFF", "FRAP and PHIFF". FINALLY i am free!, free i cry as i grab my keys....WTF??, where are my damn keys!!, i bellowed a string of profanity that would have made a monk blush!, i kid you not!. I look sheepishly out of the corner of my eye, sweat is running down my face like a spring rain, all thoughts of safety thrown to the winds. My under wear were so far "up" that i found my self wishing for a spoon just then. Sigh, i turn towards famer, Vaversacky, he is off the tractor.....holding my keys..... Moral to the story is this; buy this product, it works, and works dang well. This is the purchase that will save you from yourself, and the little woodland creatures, and lastly.... farmer Vaversacky. Five star product, so simple yet affective.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the cone open up to wrap it around the pole or does it have to be slipped on over the top or bottom?**
A: It opens up to wrap around the pole. I was even able to wrap it around two poles that are side by side, giving me more hooks to hang bird feeders that are protected by the baffle.

**Q: The black coupler was not included when this was shipped to me. who do i contact to have this shipped? the manufacturer contact info was incorrect.**
A: the # amazon gives you is incorrect 800-842-9825 is the # to call

**Q: I have a 2 inch pole. Can the top be cut to enlarge it so it would work on my pole?**
A: Hi, Gary. When the baffle is closed, the opening at the top measures 1.5 inches. The support (which clamps to the pole and holds the baffle up) is not big enough to fit securely on a 2" pole. You might check with the manufacturer to see if they offer a different sized baffle set up. I hope this helps.

**Q: What is the max pole diameter your product will work for? Mine is maybe closer to 1 5/8"/**
A: One and five-eighths is the exact diameter of the hole in the baffle, but you would have to be able to slide it on from the top or bottom of the pole after the baffle has already been hooked together. I say this because one side curves around on the top and the curves around on the bottom and you hook the two curved parts together like if you curved your fingers on both hands and then hooked your hands together. While squeezing the baffle in order to hook the two sides, the hole would actually become smaller than 1 5/8 during the squeezing process until they hook together and then will snap back so that the hole is again 1 5/8. So if you're pole is already in the ground and your bird feeder is attached to the pole in such a manner that it can't be removed or the pole can't be separated, you won't be able to attach this baffle. I don't know if I explained this very well, but hopefully, you get the idea.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Baffle 20, squirrels 0
*by K***H on April 22, 2026*

This has been the best device for keeping squirrels off our bird feeder. Now they sit on the bush looking longingly at the full feeder. Once in a while they still try to get up but are frustrated. They do sit under it during rainfall because it shields them from the raindrops, so it is a love-hate relationship. They are thankful for the messy birds that spill food all over the place.
