I was sure I'd prefer the vinyl board (old school, right?) but the silicone board is better because it lays flat and folds into a carrying box. The vinyl really only rolls up and gets dirty easier. Yes the silicone stinks for a bit, but quit whining and leave it outside for a few days if it really bugs you.I also ordered the Chess Geek triple weighted sets. The pieces are smaller and imho not as nice. The quad set pieces are a little large for the board but are easily graspable, more substantial, and you can make that "THUNK" when making that killer move. The triple weight pieces are small--possibly too small for the 2" squared board.Yes, the Queen on the quad weight set has very sharp points and we filed ours down as well as others have. The triple weight queens have more traditional un-pointy points. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong/durable, heavy, and well packaged *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2017* LOVE IT!!!!! Listen or read, whatever. When I got the package, it was shipped in one big brown box, inside another box so it wouldn't get as damage if it was (which it was not) Had stuff inside so it wouldn't get broke. I used it for a day, wonderful and heavy had many 1 minute games with it and never fell down (in 4 days already had about 20 games on it.) And heres the best part. They are incredibly strong and durable. I was hopping up stares in my school with the bags in my hand, landed pieces first on the ground, so strong of a fall it bled my nose when I hit the ground and the chess pieces survived the hard crash, cant really explain it but they took a hard hit to the floor and survived no scratches or anything. P.S. the queen's head it really sharp and may wanna file it down a bit and also in the package, they had cover over the head of the queen so they don't damage the other pieces. YES I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN NEXT YEAR :D ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Adequate *by T***M on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2018* I read another review complaining about the queens crown being razor sharp. I thought he was exaggerating. He was not. They are like rose thorns! I just sanded them a bit to make them less sharp, but what was the designer thinking?I am also disappointed in the packaging. The pieces were wrapped in the board, and that in plastic. Must be extremely careful in cutting the plastic off, so as not to cut into the silicone.I went with the silicone because it is supposed to lie perfectly flat. It does not. Pretty good, but still some wrinkles around the edges. I suspect it has to do with the poor packaging.
