Flat transparent sound.
I first used the Neumann KM-184 microphones in an ORTF configuration to record a jazz quintet . The recording sounded great; flat, transparent and not overly bright with minimal noise.

My favorite small condenser mics
My favorite little pencil condenser mics which I most often use for stereo mic'ing acoustic guitar. Beautiful full sound. Also use it for drum overheads sometimes and other stringed instruments. Been using KM184's for years and always loved them. Solid box that comes with it.

Very nice
I finally was able to afford my own pair of these after using them at work extensively and have to say that they are the best for acoustic guitar imho. I’ve used a lot of different mics for that purpose (414s, sm81, nt5s, etc.) and these have a certain character that requires me to do much less post production in terms of eq. I find myself only adding subtle compression when there are used as a stereo pair. They have a warm, natural glimmer that lacks the harshness of some of the other popular SDCs. Sure, they have no additional features like pads or rolloffs, but who needs those when you have a pair of Neumanns and aren’t trying to record loud stuff. I have used them for other things too: percussion, bowed stringed instruments, foley and even choral arrangements and quartets. Would definitely recommend, especially if you can pair them with some decent pres.

WOW...Great On Acoustic Guitar
A friend of mine loaned me a pair of these mics. The very next day, I ordered my own. Nice, warm, and rich. A nice natural sound on acoustic instruments. Perfect for home, and studio, recording. But also work well in the field.

Sometimes More Is Better
These are simply amazing microphones, they definitely cost more, but you will be blown away by the quality of sound that these Mics produceA home studio can produce really good Big studio quality with some lesser mics, but as any producer, or engineer will tell you, "THE BETTER THE SOUND GOING IN....THE BETTER THE SOUND COMING OUT" it is totally worth it to invest in some PREMIUM MICs, and you will not go wrong with these Neumann KM 184 MT'sAnd did I mention....it's totally worth it?Amazing Sound......Amazing Mic

Superb quality, great sound.
One of my Go To mic sets. Clear and precise on acoustic instruments without being strident or harsh. Minimum coloration of off axis sounds. Quiet, clean and accurate, but still has a euphonic character... Not sterile.
