Proven Industries Model 2178 Trailer Lock, Fits 2-Inch Trailer Couplers, Secures Safety Chains, Made in The USA, (Black)

I purchased this lock after my favorite lock reviewer The Lockpicking Lawyer on YouTube said he would consider putting this lock on his own trailer, and watching several videos of the lock I do have being destroyed with a crowbar. The steel cylinder is solid and well-finished and the lock itself is substantial. No one is going to pry this off, and it's going to take them a long time to cut through it with a grinder. No lock is perfect, but this whole package is as close as you're likely to find. And the customer service, when you order the wrong lock, is fantastic. I would recommend looking VERY closely as the pictures of various trailer hitches on the manufacturer's website to make sure you order the correct one the first time. But if even if you do and still blow it, they'll make it right.

After having a friend unfortunately have his camper stolen (it had a Master Lock # 389DAT hitch lock which had been correctly installed (found broken on the ground)), I decided to buy a hitch lock that is absolutely unbreakable and secures the chains at the same time. Based on multiple review sources, I bought the Proven Industries 2178. Upon arrival and after close examination, the quality/design were unmistakable. Yes, the American made 2178 cost more than other Chinese made locks (like the Master Lock), but as the saying goes... "you get what you pay for". I like sleeping at night knowing that now it's virtually impossible to steal my Lance camper!!

What can I say about this purchase? Well I can buy locks all day long for my trailer but with this company you are buying much more then a lock. The weight and thickness of this metal is so sturdy that I no longer worry about my trailer getting stolen. You are not only buying a lock, you are buying amazing customer service and support. Quick responses and super fast shipping makes this my favorite company on Amazon so far. Great you tube videos that show you exactly how to install the lock that you need for your trailer. Small business built and produced in the USA is yet another huge reason this lock is the best on the market.

This lock is very sturdy and I feel confident that my trailer is secure when I use it. It was straightforward and easy to use, mechanism works great. So much better than just the locks that loop over the hitch receiver because with this lock you can also lock up your tow chains. Not to mention, it would be much more difficult, and time consuming to get off if someone were to ever try. Great product, highly recommend for anyone wanting to secure their investment.

I ordered this lock from Amazon and the description was "used but good working condition" It arrived without a lock even though the description said nothing about missing pieces. Proven Industries did not hesitate to make it right for me. I talked with Tonya from Customer support, I will definitely recommend this company to all my coworkers and friends. The lock itself fits nicely and seems very beefy, I feel safe knowing that this will at least slow down a would be thief!!

I live in Colorado and we are seeing a massive influx of trailers/campers getting stolen. I needed something secure to keep my trailer safe since I park it up at my mountain property for most of the summer. It sits for weeks sometimes, if I can't break free. I have worried about it since day one, but theft was pretty low and not a big worry, but it has since exploded with crime and this thing will set my mind at ease. The construction is second to none, super easy to install, and a big bonus is the keys for the lock would be difficult for a smash and grab theif to pick quickly. I am exceptionally happy with this purchase and will definitely be spreading the word to all my friends. I'm not gonna lie, this is expensive, but the peace of mind is priceless. I will be ordering these for all of my trailers now. Well with the money!

After making initial Amazon order, Proven Industries contact me by email requesting photos of trailer tongue to confirm correct lock style was ordered. The lock was received a few days later.Easy to install and disassemble. Heavy duty components that seem very robust. Unique key should be very difficult to duplicate or pick.
