Cheap Construction, Poor Craftsmanship
Poor Construction, the craftsmanship has deteriorated to the point is not even worth considering buying another pair of these shoes. I have owned this particular model shoe for over 15 years and I must say that this experience has been very disappointing. Unlike the earlier shoes I have purchased that had innersoles that were stitched and glue down properly this current purchase had an uneven cut of leather that was not even glued down all the way. A very disappointing experience for me from a company that used to take pride in the products they manufactured and sold.

Not what they used to be. Sad.
Compared to what these shoes were in 1981 when they were made in America, they are a minus 10 stars. I had a pair then and they were my primary shoe traveling through Europe. Dress up go out to eat, next morning go hiking in them. My favorite shoe and style of all time. The pair Amazon just sent me had the sole of the right shoexsticking out past the front of the shoe by 1 cm. Disgusting. I wish Red Wing made more heritage shoe styles. I guess I will just re slope a pair of RW 1907s with the honey vibrant. It's as close as I'm gonna get to the perfect original awesome shoe that these timberlands used to be.

The BEST casual shoe I have ever owned!
This is my second pair of these. Very well made and durable. Simply the best pair of shoes out there for knocking around in. Soles are durable. Moderate arch support, but MUCH better than standard boat shoes (which I have NEVER found a pair with any arch in them.... all totally flat). These are shoes that you can wear all year around and in all kinds of weather. These take some time(10 to 20 hours of wearing them) to break in, so plan on that. After break in, you won't even know you have them on. They are *THAT* comfortable. I will continue to buy these shoes as long as they are offered by Timberland.

A great, well made casual shoe with rugged good looks and able to handle rugged terrain too, while keeping your feet comfortable
A classic casual shoe that is comfortable for all-day wearing from the office to the field site that looks great. I've been wearing this shoe for years as my "go-to" shoe when I have to venture out into construction work sites with khakis, looks good enough for the office too, without needing to carry extra boots (except in those really wet/muddy sites, then the boots go on!). A very well made shoe that holds up for years. I did notice that these didn't have the 'made in USA' label in them and wonder if maybe the manufacturing of these New England shoes has finally been shipped off-shore, since they were always handmade in New England for decades. They still seem to be as well made as my old ones and time will tell if they'll last as long. These are the one shoe I buy over and over again, and hope the day never arrives when I can't get them. Love these shoes!

Would buy again in a heartbeat.
These shoes are too good to sum up simply. There are multiple elements of style and practicality in these babies, so well blended that my husband can't seem to stop talking about how much he loves them. The burgundy/oxblood color makes a statement without taking over his entire outfit, whatever he's wearing. Since he's quite a clotheshorse, his wardrobe holds a large range of colors; yet these shoes manage to match with many different ensembles. He loves that the soles of these shoes are heavy and rugged while the uppers are sophisticated. They can be worn across the whole spectrum of weekend casual to business casual. Very versatile, noticeable, and comfortable, too. Great quality and design.Function + aesthetic combine very well here. Recommend.

Outstanding boat shoes and probably the best under $100 (even compared to higher end brands like Allen Edmonds). These are my 2nd pair. The originals were 6 years old and were made in US. These are now made in Dominican Rep. but the quality is the same (no chinese crap here and I applaud Timberlands for not 'chinarizing' this shoes which a lot of brands do now..even boat shoes in the $200 range.Pluses:- The quality/stitching is very well done and the leather is US sourced (which a lot of people dont know). Use mink oil ...let it sit outside in the sun for a few hours , then wipe off the access. The leather will get a rich moist look which also helps in sealing it.- Unlike most boat shoes, the heel has good grip/traction so this will handle rough terrain as well, as long as casual environments.- High end look with brass hardware.- Leather laces (a lot of boat shoes don't use leather laces).- Boat shoes that can last (if u oil it often after usage).Minuses:- Like all timberlands, these run 1/2 large (I typically wear 9 in sneakers and ordered this in 8.5. Little snug for few days but after oiling it, it broke in just fine. (this is not really a minus, however).- 1" rubber heel may not be the preference for some people in a boat shoes. Personally, for me, I like that extra added support but whatever floats your goat.Others:I just came from a 7 day island trip/vacation and only took 2 pairs..my english dress boots and these Timberlands. I fished, hiked, went boating and did tons of walking in the islands/towns/villages and never did I wish I had brought another pair instead. I got several compliments as well from random people. For our fishing trip, we were in a coral reef so I didn't take these off and these were fully submerged in knee deep ocean water for hours. I came back yesterday and washed these. Then applied mink oil. Good as new.Hoping these will last like my original pair .

Burgundy color, not Burgundy brown
The color is burgundy, even though the description lists it as burgundy brown. The box itself is labeled burgundy. So reviews that say they're brown received something different than I received. The design of the shoe is high at the ankle, which seems like it may cause rubbing on my foot. Will be returning them because of color being wrong for sure. Also would prefer a darker sole, rather than the lighter tan with the dark shoe. Otherwise looks well made and arrived quickly.

Hier stimmt was nicht!

Narrower??
This is probably the eleventh pair of these over the past twenty years (or more?). This pair looked a bit odd as soon as I took them out of the box. I held them up to my last pair to find that they’re almost a centimetre narrower! For those of us with wide feet, these shoes are a staple in the rugged and comfortable shoe repertoire. I live in these shoes! So I’m really disappointed to see this size-meddling with an iconic and much-loved product. Why would they do this? Are they being manufactured for a different demographic? Supplied by a different manufacturer?Beware next time you order a pair of these. May not fit the same as they have done for decades. I bought a 9 Wide (UK) by the way.

Very happy with shoes until laces snapped on third day of waring. Sadly this seems to reflect the reduction in quality of Timberland products over the last few years. I have been buying their footwear for over 30 years, I still have my first pair of classic Tims boots from 1988. The last few pairs of shoes I have bought have worn out really quickly and some others ordered have been sent back for dodgy stitching. I am considering switching my allegiance to another brand. I hope this note finds its way back to Timberland as I have tried in vain to find away of reporting my feelings directly to the company.

Obviously tough and going to last
I have bought these before and was so pleased with them, I bought more. However, whilst the first pair were soft, light and snug, these are hard and heavy. They are going to take some serious walking to break them in but I will persevere because they look top quality. Oh, they scratch easy, so beware!
