I don't see a splash guard.** A: I'm not sure. It doesn't have a splash guard but there is a side that has a higher lip. I put the higher end in the Bach but I'm sure for a boy u could put it in the front and it should be fine. They sit pretty deep into the seat. **Q: Does this Potette Require bags to use!? Is it basically just a hole?** A: It is just a "hole" with legs I guess is a good way to describe it. If you use it out doors you could get away with not using a bag for peeing. I primarily use it in the car (so bags are mandatory) or when we travel (hotels, public restrooms, visit with friends/family without children) so our daughter doesn't fall in or put her hands on nasty toilets to anchor herself. **Q: what is the height of the potty?** A: When it's set up for a stand alone potty it's only about 5-6" tall. It's the same height as the other kinds of potty chairs you see that are not convertible like this one.
