300053068 Electric Motor 540 Sport Tuned

Classic motor upgrade for your 1/10 RC car. I used this to replace the stock motor on my vintage Tamiya Frog and it works great. I think they cost less now than when I looked at them in the 80's!! Or maybe I just have more money now and it only seems that way! Either way, it's a great value to get better performance out of your car.

If you are running a brushed setup in your RC, this is a great replacement for stock. More torque and rpm, with still long run times. Obviously not as fast as a brushless system, but if you have a brushed Tamiya or other vintage brushed car, this is a great affordable little motor. I don't water break them in, but use a little motor cleaner and lube at the ends.

Made my Grasshopper 2 pretty quick. Pretty good bang for your buck if staying brushed. Typical Tamiya quality!

Great classic motor at a very affordable price. Stout, reliable and not too shabby on the revs. I’m not an rc speed freak because my skills can’t catch up yet. This is all I need to have genuine fun and it’s fast enough for what I like to do. It’s brushed and that’s what I grew up building with, great motor can’t go wrong if you are enjoying leisure ripping with your rc car- there’s always something faster, but that’s not what I’m after. This motor will get you to the happy zone if you have reasonable expectations.

We all know those silver can's are good for your little sister or kid brother, but lets face it, they get boring in less than one battery. This black sport tuned motor by Tamiya is a great little boost in performance for Tamiya's old school line up. Is it as fast as a brushless system? Heck no. Heck, it's not even twice as fast as a silver can. If I were to guess, on a brushed motor scale of 1-10 with 1 being slow and 10 being fast. I put the silver can at about a 3 and this Sport tuned motor at about a 5.5 or 6. I think we can all agree that the stock 380 motor that comes with the Grasshopper would be at about a 1.

I used this motor to replace the stock silver can in my Wild One Buggy. It had a noticable increase in speed and torque. I did a before and after comparison. Running on a 3S lipo it did 28 mph stock and 32 mph with the Sport Tuned. When it has traction it is a wheelie machine. I'm not sure if it is rated to run on 3S, so I don't recommend it, and do so at your own risk. I only ran 3S for testing and will run 2S from now on. Highly recommend the Sport Tuned motor as an inexpensive performance upgrade over the stock silver can that comes with a lot of Tamiya kits.

I can't comment on torque but it certainly has more RPM than the stock Tamiya 540 that came with my Hornet EVO. In my testing with a handheld laser tach I was seeing about 2600 max out of the stock motor whereas he 'Sport Tuned' showed about 4100. Both tests were done in sequence with the same 7.2 Nimh battery and 17t pinion.
