A Simple Twist Lock System
This review has been edited from 1 star to 4 stars and the return is to be cancelled. I had problems getting them to lock and then undoing the lock afterwards. I was drying them for the return to Amazon when the end sections came out. I noticed a loose part inside. I reconnected it and now they lock and unlock very easily. I expect it will still be difficult to do this in the rain (tested by quickly wetting them and this was hard, but nowhere near as difficult as before), hence 4-stars, not 5. Overall I do recommend them and the price is fair.

Very good quality poles
These cost a bit more but well worth it. Strong, light, good height range, easy to adjust.

well-made from quality materials
I wanted some means of holding up a light-blocking screen after some over-zealous security lighting interfered with my back garden amateur astronomy! These poles (combined for now with a couple of patio umbrella stands) do the job perfectly. They were much better made than I was expecting. They are very well designed and constructed; strong and easy to collapse to a convenient size for storage. Excellent.

Exceptionally strong, good quality. Highly recommended. Not very light though, so may not be suitable for hiking.
