Solid Commercial-Grade Connector That Delivers This Leviton 15A, 125V straight blade connector is exactly what I was hoping for—sturdy, easy to wire, and built to last. Installing it was straightforward: the screw terminals are well placed, and the strain relief clamps down firmly on the cable, so I don’t have to worry about it loosening over time. I’ve used it to repair an extension cord in my garage, and it’s been reliable under regular use with power tools. With colder weather here, I plug my pickup in every night so it starts easier. I realized the first time I went to plug it in this winter that the end of my cord had been damaged so I found this plug to repair it. Wiring this new plug on is very easy and straightforward, just make sure you 1, understand how to do it and 2, make sure to unplug the other end of the cord first. The quality of the plug is pretty good and I really like the light in the end as my kids like to unplug the cord if they need/want to use the outlet for something else during the day so now when I get home, as I pick the cord up to plug the truck in, if I don't see the light I know I need to plug the other end in as well.

I added this Leviton Replacement End to my retractable Power Extrension Cord in place of the original 3-headed receptacle that could no longer provide consistent, full electrical power to two of the outlets. That old head also had a barely-visible orange Neon internal pilot light, while this new Leviton unit has a bright green LED inside, visible day or night to confirm that juice is present (and the Breaker hadn't been accidentally tripped). I was impressed by the build quality and ease of assembly, and how well it holds onto the power cord. Took me less than 10 minutes to replace the old head; there are 2rd-party plug-in 3-head extensions if you need.

Got here very quick and easy to install. It works perfect. Very rugged and easy to see light indicator.

easy to install with good quality. I used on a #12 stranded and its barely able to handle that size wire. I made it work.

Appears to be well built. Installed and works as intended. I particularly liked the connection indicator light. I would purchase again, should I need to replace a 110V 15amp connector on an extension cord. Value is good, price is reasonable.

Single Product Review: Leviton extension cord plugs (male, female) Discussion: As part of this project, I needed to cut down the green seventy-five (75) foot extension cord, so I used Leviton connectors to re-terminate the ends. This is a 12AWG extension cord, and the plugs below are for 14AWG. So be sure you are buying the correct size plug. The Leviton 515CV plug has white inserts which you can remove to allow use with a 3-wire 12AWG extension cord. Project Summary: I have a temporary solar/PV battery backup project in the garage, and I wanted to use the generated solar power inside the house. Previously has an extension cord running through the door to the garage, but that's not safe for a lot of reasons, so I wired up a couple of electrical boxes, and wired in a cut-out switch. The inside connections are a standard wall outlet, and the outside connection to the inverter is via a twist lock plug, for extra security. Observations: All the parts used are listed at the end, and grouped by category. Recommendations: 1) I looked at a lot of generator inlet receptacles, but most were 20-30 amp, and I don't need that large (standard 15A), so I used a NEMA locking L5-15P instead. 2) As this was going to be a twist lock plug, I wanted to attach the electrical box to a stud if at all possible (vs. using the electrical box which clamps onto dry-wall). The Madison Electric Products boxes were perfect. I used a single gang on the inside box, and for the outside, I used a 2-gang so that I could also fit a cut-off switch. I mounted the 2-gang box rotated 90 degrees to the normal orientation for two reasons: a) I could screw it directly into the horitzontal stud, and b) I could mount the plug on the bottom, and the switch on the top. 3) When it comes to electrical parts, I generally go with Leviton, which I have had great success with. The only item I got that was a different brand was the right angle plug (which Leviton also offers, I just didn't see it when placing the order, otherwise I would have ordered that one instead). Conclusion: All the products listed in the review, and used for this project I am rating 5-stars.
