It is a book
The product was greatIt was to be a giftIt however was left by delivery person on the porch in a rain storm. It would of been nice if book had been in plastic so it would of been a presentable gift.

No Step by Step Instructions
This book is just an idea book. I was hoping for step by step instructions to build things but it's more of pictures for ideas. My grandson does really like it though and has used it to build some of the items in the book. It was a nice Christmas gift for him.

Fun to look through - not very useful to help a child create something
This book is exciting to look at, and is great as decor in any bedroom or playroom. I got it for my 7 year old son who enjoys building lego sets. We have a ton of random lego pieces so I thought this would help him figure out something to build. They could benefit from some more ships/cars type of projects in the book. It would also be helpful if they, at least for a few, could give some general instructions. What I found is he enjoyed looking through this book once, but every completed project was just overwhelming and didn't inspire him to want to build it because he didn't know where to start. As decor, or a stocking stuffer, or a general book to thumb through every once in awhile this would be a good book. As a book to help kids get inspired it is a bit lacking as the child is at the starting line with random blocks and the book only shows items at the finish line with no hints on how to get there.

A great buy.
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my 7-year-old. He has buckets of Legos, like many kids his age, and we wanted to breathe fresh life into them for him. This book has hundreds of pages of ideas. While it doesn't have the same detailed instructions that come with a Lego kit, it shows enough detail that they can be built by anyone who has the correct pieces in their collection. The pages are full-color and have little bits of the signature Lego humor throughout. My son has spent hours poring over it, planning which thing he is going to make next. The book itself is a heavy-duty hardcover binding. The outside of the front cover is fun; it's made so that the images appear to be moving when you move the cover back and forth. The paper of the book is high-quality, and the binding is solid. This book will stand up to being manhandled by kids, which is important considering the target audience.Overall, if you have a Lego fanatic in your household (like I do), I can wholeheartedly recommend this book. It has really gotten my son's wheels turning.

Really Awesome!
I am an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) and while I started buying sets for my daughter (Lego Friends mostly), I have been collecting sets for a few years now for myself. While I like to keep most of my sets intact to rebuild, I find that this book has introduced me into thinking about building in a different way. Some of the negative reviewers state that there are many "special" bricks that won't be in the average collection. That is true...but I would never have thought to buy Mixels or Technic sets before. This is my favourite of the Idea books and while I won't rush to source all the elements I don't have, I am enjoying trying out some of the ideas in the book.I waited until it was on sale before I bought it, but to me it was worth it. The photos are fantastic and detailed, and there are showstopper builds at the end of each chapter which really showcases what can be done with a simple brick and unlimited imagination.A great addition to a Lego Library.

Some nice ideas - recommended but probably for more experienced builders
The book is a nice idea and my eldest has enjoyed reading it. He's managed to make quite a few of the designs and I really like the way an early design is build upon to form a component of a larger thing (space door, then space platform, etc). I'd recommend the book, but with some hopefully useful notes:1. Don't expect the level of detail you'll get in a lego kit. Obvious, I know, but the kids expectations will need managing as they might well expect this. The drawings are broken down usually into 2 or 3 photos though so with a bit of work they're reproducible. Consequently, probably better for more experience builders.2. You'll need a pretty diverse and comprehensive set of Lego to complete all of the designs. I thought we had a lot (must have about 20 kits and a couple of generic boxes) but our kids didn't have the bits to fully complete about half of the designs. They can improvise of course, but depends how flexible your kids are (mine are perfectionists so not flexible at all!)

Good ideas book
Wow. Lots of ideas to add to builds that are already filling and overflowing my head. Great read for those who are needing a new direction/idea. Also a good book for those starting in the LEGO building world. Get ready for a funtastical ride.
