I did not understand why the legs on this tripod kept splaying out when the box was placed on the tripod. I called and spoke to the owner of the company who explained the functionality behind the leg locking mechanism. This solved the problem. Excellent customer service.

Surprised to get this tripod with no detections. A card gave 3 online sites to find directions. Only the you tube video was available ans did not give enough info. I still cannot get it to hold my pochade box in one position even after turning the appropriate nob. As far as possible. It is as short as advertised but when closed up the the circumference around the legs is so big, I still can’t get it in a standard backpack along with my pochade box

This tripod is great. Easy to use and very sturdy compared to other ones I have tried. Also, it’s a nice compact size. Definitely worth buying

I use this for art in ‘plein air’. If you are attaching a box to the top of it, it might be ok, but I have a system where the paint palette is attached to the legs, and the canvas to the quick release plate, so it would be better if the legs would extend higher. It DEFINITELY will hold a full box of pastels with no problem if you tighten everything. I have a sienna box and that works just fine. Honestly, this is a great tripod….just one of my wishes. I have been searching for the perfect tripod. I want a sturdy quick release plate and taller legs, but this will work. I work in oil, pastel, and watercolor, so want all of my mediums to work with one tripod.

I have set this up in my studio, but have not used it yet for Plein Air painting in the field. Hesitate to give something this functional 5 stars until further use. One of the things I like is how small it folds up so I can get it into the smallish backpacks I carry, along with my UGO set up for oil painting. I was not able to get it all the way back to the smaller footprint and a couple pieces will be sticking out of the top of the pack until I can figure out how to get it more compact. Very stable and high quality. Should be able to use in all conditions including wind.

like what others said - it’s just kinda too low. I’m sure in certain instances it works for people, but isn’t compatible with the daytripper easel i got, which mounts to the legs
