Rinse the tray thoroughly and allow to air dry. 2 Fill the seed tray with a germinating potting mix or make your own sterile, soil-less potting mix with equal parts sphagnum peat and perlite. 3Add 1 inch of water to the bottom of your sink, then set the tray in the sink basin for about 30 minutes or until the potting mixture absorbs most of the water. This method ensures even moisture and eliminates the risk of splashing potting mix. Set the tray outside to drain excess water for about one hour. 4.Scatter the seeds across the soil and cover with about 1/4 inch of potting mix. Sow a generous amount of seed to increase the chance of germination; you can thin the seedlings later. 5Cover the seed tray with clear plastic wrap and place the tray in your refrigerator for about four weeks. 6Remove the tray from the refrigerator, poke a few ventilation holes in the plastic wrap and place the tray in a sunny location with temperatures between 60 to 65 degrees F. Add water as needed to keep the potting mix moist. You should notice seedlings emerging through the potting mix in one to two weeks. While transplanting may save some of the seedlings, the chance of survival is bleak. 8Transplant the remaining primrose seedlings to 4-inch individual pots when they are several inches tall and have substantial leaves and stems.
