The sun protection actually improves when washing the shirt at least 25 times. The rating doesn't change with the color. So whatever color you are using, you are protected from the harmful sun rays. **Q: Does the shirt require special care? I've bought one "cool shirt" only to find out I had to wash it in ice water! Not convenient.** A: It's recommended to wash the solar shirts with cold water (machine wash). No bleach and softeners should be used as well as no dryer sheets as they could damage the fibers which include the moisture wicking technology. These are normal washing recommendations for performance shirts. **Q: Does this shirt snag easily?** A: No it hasn't snagged easily. Sorry for the delay in answering you. Very pleased with this purchase. The shirts are not hot or uncomfortable and the protection from the sun is amazing. Would they get too hot?** A: I wear mine for cycling, to keep the sun off me on long rides. I regularly am out in 100 degree heat. It's cool enough for that but I would look at Under Armour heat gear for underneath a uniform. It's pretty snug fitting but it does a great job at wicking away sweat.
