Best thing since sliced tuna. Chapter 2
This is about my 2nd purchase and I can now double my praise. This is a truly super toy and my grandkitten is just as happy as my cats. What follows is my original review and is only handicapped by my lack of superlatives. Forgive me but I am a bear of little brain. After a terrible day spent with the Cats Meow (an unworthy copy cat) I sucked it up, bit the bullet and shelled out more money than a cat toy should be worth. OH HAPPY DAY!The failed toy had a great movement that was an instant hit but died after a day. THIS. . .this one was unbelievable. The shape is perfectly jointed and mostly stays under the cover with an unpredictable movement that makes it irresistible to the little furry hunter. It acts as if it could be a real small creature. My 5-year old needs to burn some energy so he will sleep at night. He grieved so badly after the other "toy" died that I had to find a way to comfort him. This does the job. He plays like a child with a fort as he hides in his cube or behind a box and attacks. When he wears out he falls asleep with his head on the cover. It's totally adorable. All ages seem to feel the same. Well,up to 11 years old the reaction is the same. Kitty City Pouncing Paws seems to be very sturdy because when one of the cats holds onto the "mouse" (and they do want to hold on) it just takes off running again as soon as it is free.Yes it does drain the 3 C cell batteries but a modestly priced battery charger, again from Amazon, will recharge both alkaline and rechargeable batteries. Face it, when you spend this much on a toy that brings this much joy the batteries are incidental. Noise does not seem to be a problem and it works on both carpet and smooth floors.I cannot find the words to express how pleased and satisfied I am with the KITTY CITY Pouncing Paws and would advise anyone considering it do not try any substitute. It might be cheaper but you can't go wrong with this.Oh, by the way, I just bought a second one of these to send to my grandkitten in Georgia.

Motorized toy
This is my cats all time favorite toy, they run to it when I turn it on! That said this is the second one I have purchased in less than 4 months because the first one will no longer run. So it is a great toy, but I can not say it's a great value. I chose to replace it because they still try to play with the one that has the non working motor and I am a soft touch for my cats !

Cats like it, I think its okay.
If I ever need to distract my cats for a couple of minutes, I just turn this thing on. You can even turn it on or off with your foot. My more active cat likes to pounce and stalk it. My less active cat might bat at it a little bit, but he will also stare and watch it too.The toy seems pretty durable. It still works after a couple weeks of cats sitting on it, chewing it and knocking it over. Although the nylon cover does have some teeth and claw holes in it.My two biggest issues with this product are its battery life and the noise level. After only 10 days it had drained the Duracell batteries I had bought for it. And since it uses 3 C batteries I had another one just sitting there being useless. Granted the cats were using the toy more since it was new. But you really need rechargeable batteries to make this a worthwhile toy/purchase. The other issue is the noise. The nylon cover makes a loud swish sound whenever the rod moves around. And the rod always keeps moving. It might stop for half a second at the most. This loud wind pants swishing noise and you'll get the idea. And since the toy switches directions randomly it makes it hard to tune out the noise. So I have to turn off the toy if I want to read a book or watch a movie. The toy does start off moving really, really fast. But after the batteries drain a little the motor speed isn't quite so intimidating. The toy is also 'smart' enough to know when it has hit an obstacle and to go the other way. However if my cat sits on the wand it still keeps trying to move the motor. But usually the cat gets the idea to get off the toy to let if move again. The nylon cover can get bunched up and stop the wand from moving freely. The toy is fairly light so cats can push it across the room and tip it over. But both my cats really like it. And it is a great distraction, especially for my cat that still has the idea that my feet are a chew toy. I just turn this on and he ignores my feet and plays with this. So it isn't perfect, but since my cats like it so much I gave it four stars.

Very disappointing cat toy
I purchased this because I'd seen this toy (not from this company) at a friend's house, and her cats loved it. Hers is very sturdy, the motion is erratic, and 6 cats manage to play with it successfully. Considering what I paid for this item ($55 with shipping), I am very disappointed. The cover does not fit over the center part, so in seconds, it is off to the side as there is no way it can stay in place. The motion of the attachment is primarily rapid one-direction.I would not recommend this particular make from this company to anyone. The idea of the toy is great, just not this one.

Great Toy - Lousy Durability
My cat absolutely LOVED this toy. He would beg for this toy. Unfortunately, it lasted 3 days. On day 3, the spinner quit working, I had to return the toy. Have tried similar motorized toys since and none hold my cat's interest like this one did.
