Tough Little Sprayer That Handles Harsh Jobs
Tough Little Sprayer That Handles Harsh Jobs The Smith Performance 190285 one-gallon sprayer has been in my rotation for years, and it continues to prove its value. What sets it apart is how well it tolerates bleach and other strong cleanersโthanks to the Viton seals and chemical-resistant parts, I donโt have to worry about it breaking down after a few uses. Assembly is quick (basically just attach the hose), and the large funnel top makes it easy to fill without splashing. With about 15โ20 pumps it builds up solid pressure, and the adjustable nozzle shifts smoothly from a pinpoint stream to a wide cone. Iโve used it for cleaning decks with diluted bleach, spraying down siding, and even mixing up batches of DIY cleaner for tubs and showers. It locks on for continuous spray, which saves your hand during long jobs. Durability has been good overall. The tank is sturdy, the wand and hose havenโt given me trouble, and parts are replaceable if needed. The handle feels a bit lighter than some heavy-duty Chapin models Iโve owned, so Iโm mindful not to overtighten when sealing the pump. Also, thereโs no dedicated pressure release valveโreleasing pressure means spraying until itโs gone, which can be inconvenient if youโre working with strong chemicals. For the price, though, itโs a very capable sprayer that balances chemical resistance with ease of use. Itโs light enough to carry around but still tough enough for serious cleaning tasks. Bottom line: A reliable, budget-friendly sprayer that holds up to bleach and other harsh cleaners. Not perfect, but an excellent workhorse for homeowners who want a versatile tool for siding, decks, and general cleaning. r5

I'm going to sanitize the world!
First off, I noticed a lot of negative reviews about this sprayer, however most of them looked different than the one I purchased. (The one I have is for bleach). I will update this review if I have any issues later. I have bought sprayers for different ingredients: soap, fertilizers, insecticide, paint and I've bought very expensive $70 metal ones, and cheap $8.00 one's. Metal is very heavy, corrodes and you can't see what's in it. Just not practical. The cheap plastic one's are great because they do the job and can often last a few years. But I needed one specifically for bleach. Long before Covid19 became a household word, I wanted to clean and disinfect larger areas such as sidewalks, walkways and also package deliveries. It's a sad fact that people spit on the ground, don't pick up after their animals etc. Lysol is like gold so I use that sparingly. Bleach is easier to find and the CDC's recommended 1/3 cup -OR- 5 Tablespoons bleach to one gallon of water is economical and suits this sprayer perfectly! It's not heavy when filled, and so much easier to spray items when standing up as the sprayer wand is a nice length. Bleach is notorious for destroying most types of sprayers or spray bottles as it eats up anything rubber. So far this is working fine. I just pumped it to build pressure and it sprayed a wide, fine mist. I keep it handy to spray bottoms of shoes, door mats etc. Works great to disinfectant bathtubs and showers too. If I get a year from it I'll be more than happy. If not in use, drain and rinse throughly.

first impressions are good
Got this and took it out for a spin to clean large backyard decks using bleach. I did have a little trouble attaching hose during assembly (it wouldn't thread) not sure what I was doing wrong or what I did right, but got it in there, the rest was easy. Of course I can not review durability just yet but worked great the first time out, It was a 3 hour job and I refilled this a couple of times, that was more my fault as I was not sure how much was needed so I went light the first couple of times plus I had to play with it :-) I did not notice any leaking, one time I heard a hiss but I just tightened the top a little more and that sealed it. You can also clearly see fluid levels so easy to eyeball mixture. It is easy to fill, the spray is adjustable and it is easy to clean afterward. As far as the cleaning job on painted wood decks and a little of the cedar siding, I had first tried some no scrub Mold Armor that didn't do a thing, it was messy and wasted water. So I bought this sprayer and experimented, 1 to 1 water to bleach, 2 to 1 and 3 to 1. I used regular household concentrated bleach, sprayed on, waited a few minutes, lightly scrubbed and rinsed off...worked very well. The deck is shining. I ended up getting a system going, I would spray one area so solution could sit a few minutes while I scrubbed or rinsed another area. So aside from not knowing durability yet, I definitely recommend this..Right now the price is right (lower than sprayer in big box store that got bad reviews) It is light, has adjustable spray, easy to use and easy to clean afterward. UPDATE: It has been over a year now and still going strong..good little sprayer

I use six of these one gallon heavy duty sprayers. Easy to carry and store!
This is the sixth one gallon sprayer I'v bought and I use them all for differant purposes. The one I've had for Years, I accidently left it out in a Montana winter so I replaced the rubber "O" ring from the hardware store...still working! Fill up the thick heavy duty bottle...prime the air inside, push down and lock it into place, adjust end of the wand for a fine mist up to a heavy spray. I take the tip off to water my plants so dirt doesnt get blown out of the pot. And press down on the trigger. SPRAYER # 1. I fill with carpet cleaner and water mixer. 2. His one has Tempo mixed with water to kill ants, spiders even scorpions. Its saved me THOUSANDS of dollars not having to call a professional or using bug bombs. Once dry you can let your children and pets back in. If you buy a used mattres lightly spay this to kill possible bed bugs, fees or lice. Ive used Tempo for 15 years. I was told that this was what the professional sprayer companies use and its made by the BAYER company. Spray your house the first time. Then 2 weeks later to kill anything thats hatched. 3. Plain water. I use this for lots of thing. I love it to watering all my plants and hanging plants. I only use about a cups worth of water depending on the size pot, so they dont drip on my carpet or furniture. Then I and place six regular size ice cubes treated with plant food, on top of the soil to finish sloooowly watering. No overflow or dripping. 4. STRAIGHT VINEGAR! MY third Yorkie is still a puppy. If she pees, I take off the sprayer end and soak the spot with the water sprayer. Suck it up with a shampooer or you can us a wet vac. Then soak the spot or area...with white vinegar sprayer...let it sit for about an hour and suck it up with my shampooer{ I dont rince it out of the carpret}I just let it dry. 5. With boys dirty clothes your hand gets tired of spraying stains after a while. I just fill it up with my favorite laundry stain remover...you havent lived until you get one for this!!! 6. Homemade deer repellant. BTW... Ortho makes an AWESOME deer and rabbit repellant. You can plant and hang any type of flower and plant that they typically LOVE. Spray on Ortho's deer and rabbit repellant and you'll be the only person in the whole neighborhood with green un chewed plants and flowers. I even spray the around the inside of my backyard close to the fence. The deer no longer leap over my fence because "the grass is greener" lol Sometimes the less graceful or less agile deer, they don't quite "clear" the height of my fence. Hence they don't break or knock over sections of my fence anymore. Saving me lots of time and money not having to fix it!!

INEXPENSIVE HOME AND FARM SPRAYER THAT WILL NOT CORRODE
This is a very light weight, low cost, none rust accumulating, sprayer for around the house and farm. Most chemical bottle give you chemical amounts for one gallon of water. No need for math to figure out how much concentrated chemical to add. I have owner 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 gallon sprayers and some of the fellows don't know how to do the math when you get into half gallon increments. Many chemicals are corrosive and will NOT cause a problem in this sprayer (with one exception). The instructions with all these sprayers is to rinse and purge after each use (use fresh water and pressure spray plain water through the system). In my experience, at least 50% of the folks FAIL to follow this rule and leave a little bit of spray in the unit "for tomorrow" or they spray entire content and figure unit does not need to be rinsed out. The problem with this approach is that some of the chemicals will precipitate out and form chunks or flakes - the things that plug up your spray wand. In addition, the chemicals in the water and the ph, may affect the chemical concentrate and render it less viable (won't work). In the West where we have alkaline water, the ph of the water may negate or reduce the effectiveness of the diluted chemicals within hours. Bottom line, the stored chemical in the sprayer may not kill any bugs and will/may plug up your sprayer. So if you are not a professional exterminator, and don't want to spend $150 on a sprayer, this is your unit. I will not last forever, the droplet size will not be as fine in microns, and it won't "shoot" as far, but for most jobs, it will perform adequately. If it does stop working, you are not out a ton of money, you won't tearing down and replacing parts, and you can just go and buy another one. Simple maintenance will extend its life appreciably. I hope years of experience will assist buyers in purchasing decisions. Please click "Yes" below this line if this review was helpful to you.

The sprayer is good, but the nozzle is terrible.
I gave this three stars and not two, because the sprayer does not clog, it is easy to clean, and the lid is easy to get on and off. However, the nozzle is the worst nozzle I have ever used. Maybe its becasue it is a bleach and chemical sprayer and not marketed for lawn use. At any rate, out of the box, the nozzle didn't spray but rather squirted. After a few uses it would hardly even do that. I discovered that the plastic the nozzle is made from is so soft that if you accidentally rub it against something hard such as concrete or brick it scratches up the nozzle end and closes the hole. I had to use a knife to open the hole, but it just wasn't the same. I am hoping to find a replacement nozzle, but so far no luck. It's a great sprayer, but not much use if one little cheap plastic nozzle prevents the entire sprayer from doing its job.

Works great right out of the box
Just received and tested this sprayer with water- Assembled EZ. Most Important: strong pressure/good seal with about 18 pumps: NO leaks. Nozzle only needs a couple turns to go from stream to mist. Design: Handle is not as robust as my Chapin 20000 -felt it twist when applying reasonable torque to seal pump to tank. Maintaining awareness of this weaker handle to avoid breaking it. Note: My 7yr old Chapin 20000 has been great. Recently bought a 2nd one, but it would not pressurize due to uneven casting of the tank at the pump sealing surface that caused leakage. Got a refund, and didn't order a replacement b/c found that the recent reviews are not good for that sprayer. Chose this Smith sprayer instead, and so far so good. Will edit my review if anything changes. Recommended.

Chemical Ollie....WMD dispenser
Greetings! So..if you like to apply your bleach/clorox/liquid chlorine via spray then you already know it will work for awhile in a conventional bottle sprayer setup, however...unless you clean the spray mechanism meticulously....next time you go for a squirt you will probably at best get a dirty, rusty stream of partially disolved springs and seals! Enter this purpose built Bleach and Chemical Sprayer....load her up with Clorox or liquid chlorine,,,screw the pump assembly onto the large plastic throat....give the pump handle a few pumps...how many depends upon how high you filled the plastic tank..fill it very high and you won't be able to add much compression as I am sure you know..you can't compress liquid..just the air above it! So do a half fill or less...pump about 5 to 10 pumps, adjust the spray nozzle for stream, spray or any combination between and off you go. I use it to bleach my pool patio, ridding it of any mold or mildew which might have occurred. The wand makes it easy on your back and you can get a 2 foot swath of spray coverage which helps to make short work of any expansive areas you want to coat with the liquid. I don't leave the caustic mix in the tank for any extended period of time as I am sure it will find something to corrode if there is any metal whatsoever within the pump assembly...it's a closed unit so I don't know what exactly is in there. what I normally do is to either fully spray out the contents of the tank or alternatively, return the bleach to the container it came from....then I rinse the tank with clean water, pump some of the water through the wand to flush out any of the caustic bleach and then just let it air dry out. I have owned one of these in a previous residence and using if for similar purposes it never failed! I fully expect this one will perfomr admirably as well! Light weight, empty anyway....Easy to fill, empty, pump and spray....sprayer Nirvana!

Perfect for weeds and gardening. Highly recommended.
AWESOME PRODUCT! I used this three times so far on a 35โx10โ gravel area on the side of my garage to get rid of those pesty weeds. Also used it along the edges of my pathway. Super easy to use. Handle and pump are very durable. Highly recommended!

Works great for applying ONR
I wanted something gentle to apply some ONR to my car with. This did the job pretty well, keeps my car really clean, and I don't need more pressure. Only negative I see is the handle is a little weird in that you can't really use it to unscrew after you tighten it as it just gives away. Not sure why they designed it like that. But since the prroduct seems pretty good quality and works, not deducting a star for that.

Excellent quality, but lack of pressure release mechanism may be bothersome.
Overall a quality product. I used it for coil cleaner, and it works well and produces a powerful, adjustable stream of product out of the nozzle. Hose and sprayer are entirely leak free and easy to pump. However, this product does not have a pressure release valve. The instructions suggest there is a version that does, and I would definitely pay extra for that version if I were to buy it again. The instructions state that if you do not have that version, you need to just hold down the trigger to release the pressure. This tends to result in the product being vaporized/atomized as it leaves the nozzle, which can create irritating fumes if there are chemicals in it. Furthermore, it takes a long time to discharge. Opening it without fully discharging (not even a little residual pressure) will spray chemicals at your face. For the features the sprayer does have though, it performs very well.
