I was looking for a way of straining used cooking oil and putting it back into the bottle after deep frying. While looking for a funnel/sieve combination, I found this which was obviously designed specifically for this job. Although I wasn't expecting to pay this much to solve a simple problem, I don't regret if for a moment. You can simply decant the still hot oil through a very fine detachable mesh into this pot and pour accurately back into the original container when cooled down. You could leave it in the pot until the next use but it is not completely airtight and I hate the smell of used cooking oil. The pot itself is not as heavy as you might expect. The metal is quite thin and light but not flimsy. It sits on a small saucer to catch any drips. Its two-litre capacity easily takes all the oil from my deep fryer. The filter is incredibly fine and easily catches any visible particle such as breadcrumbs. By removing all potentially carcinogenic burnt particles, it significantly adds to the lifetime of the oil. Cleanup is a breeze too as the pot and removable filter are dishwasher safe. The instructions warn that you may want to use a hairdryer to thoroughly dry the filter which may be a good idea if handwashing but isn't necessary if your dishwasher has an effective drying cycle.

I don't deep fry very often and try to use as small a quantity of oil as I can. The strainer on this removes the crusty bits left in the pan so the oil can be returned to its container once cooled. I should really get a few stainless steel flasks in order to "air tightly" store used oils separately which have picked up flavours from different ingredients, e.g. fish, samosas, battered poultry, battered red meats etc.

For a 2L can it is really compact and exactly what I wanted. It is a little more than I wanted to spend but well worth it. I love that it comes with an additional plate to put under the jug and also that the strainer is stored within the jug itself. The only gripe is taking the lid off to pour oil - it is a shame there is not an opening of some kind to just pour straight from the jug without having to remove the lid. However, this is much better as it keeps the oil covered at all times. It seems to be of good quality and relatively sturdy.

Before I purchased this I used to use a 900g empty Olive glass jar which was not ideal. This is high quality 304 steel so it doesn't rust, with a secure riveted handle and fine mesh strainer so no solids. I use it to strain all used oil which I only use once, to reduce carcinogen (every time you use it, the molecules break down) When it's full, I use cooking oil solidifier so I can dispose of it in the household waste and then either put in the dishwasher or kitchen sink. If you were doing deep fat frying you could use it to strain the oil after every use, however I would use oil filter papers (bigger versions of coffee filter papers) to catch the smaller particulates?

I bought this so that I could decant the oil from a saucepan that I used for deep frying and could therefore use the pan again. The pot just holds sufficient oil and the strainer is useful for filtering out scraps of batter etc after frying fish. It was easy to clean, served its purpose and was worth the money. However, since I purchased an air fryer I no longer deep fry food because with the air fryer there's less mess, less electricity used and little or no oil used which is healthier.

We like making our own chips but I don’t like leaving the chip pan with lots of oil on the hob. It also takes up a lot of room when cooking other things. It is so easy now to empty the cooled oil into the pot and store the hip pan in the cupboard. Literally takes seconds to do and also strains bits out of the oil. It is well made and looks good stored on the worktop.

Good value for money and easy to use, holds hot oil, like the extra base plate for support for the container to sit on. The sieve is very easy to clean excess waste allowing for clean oil to be stored in container. It has a large spout for easy pouring of oil back into fryer, only negative point with sieve in place doesn't hold the state quoted because oil comes above the sieve.

This is one of those products you didn't know you needed..but you do! I like to deep fry a few items but I hate the oil sitting about in a pan, it doesn't seem hygienic and let's be honest oil smells! Everytime I have finished with my oil, I filter it through the filter provided, wash the filter and its good to go the next time I need it. Oil is shooting up in price so I want value for money and this storage jug helps me to achieve that. Aside from the practical issues this jug looks lovely. It lives in the corner of my kitchen looking pretty. Really happy with it. Top marks.

Ich habe die Kanne erhalten und aufgrund der negativen Bewertungen erst einmal begutachtet. Das Ergebnis war sehr zufriedenstellend: Keine Kratzer, keine Dellen, alles dran, nichts musste zunächst mal verschraubt werden. Dann habe ich 2,5 l Palmkernöl aus meiner Fritteuse gereinigt. Die Prozedur dauerte keine zehn Minuten. Die groben Bestandteile wurden restlos herausgesiebt feine Teile aber nicht, da muss ich wohl noch einmal mit einem Kaffeefilter ran. Allerdings war das Frittiergut nicht "ohne" (Süßkartoffelpommes, bestäubt mit Speisestärke und Paprika). Das Reinigen ging dann recht einfach, ich werde es aber in der Geschirrspülmaschine wiederholen. Für mich ist diese Kanne/dieser Topf ein wertvolles Hilfsmittel zu einem attraktiven Preis.

I have waited for long for this item to arrive and now I use it constantly. Every time I use, I say to myself what I best buy that was. It is a very nice sized, very handy, stores oil properly and easy to clean. I love it and would recommend highly. it was worth the wait.
