The best available for ticks
I've been using Natrapel for the past couple of years, and it's completely changed my relationship with outdoor activities. As someone who used to dread bug season because of how much DEET-based sprays bothered me, discovering Natrapel's picaridin formula was like finding the holy grail of insect repellents. The 20% picaridin gives me up to 12 hours of protection, which means I can actually enjoy full days hiking, camping, or just hanging out in my backyard without constantly worrying about reapplication. No More Chemical Smell or Greasy Feel What I love most about Natrapel is that it doesn't have that awful chemical smell that made me avoid bug spray for years. One reviewer perfectly captured my experience: "It doesn't stink! It doesn't smell like that chemical spray you put on as a kid, camping. It actually almost smells 'flowery' to me". The spray goes on light and non-greasy, unlike those thick DEET formulations that left me feeling like I was coated in oil. I can actually wear it comfortably all day without feeling gross

Not a strong smell
Perfect for vacation and also for summer. Works really good in kids and the smell it’s not strong. Also adult can use it and it work for any type of bugs. Great choice

Phenomenal
The best bug spray ever. Spendy, but if you swell and the bites are annoying for a week plus like me, worth every single penny.

A nice alternative to citronella
I've found the citronella-based bug sprays to be effective, but after a while the scent can be overpowering. I hike in areas that have lots of mosquitoes, gnats and ticks, and these range from being an annoyance to downright dangerous. Ticks carry all sorts of diseases in my areas and I'm not always shy about crossing through grassy areas. I come from the days when 100% DEET was what we wore when we were in the woods. It works, but it also stinks like chemicals and can irritate skin. If I needed it, I would use it and not look back. Mild irritation is way better than Lyme disease or any of the mosquito-borne pathogens. However, for my casual hikes I've rarely needed anything stronger than a mild repellent. I got tired of smelling like citronella so I bought this as an experiment. Last time I used it I found that it kept mosquitoes and gnats away from me. Not completely-- I ended up with a bite on my arm-- but I was also hiking in an area with lots of standing water (IE lots of mosquitoes) and I only lightly dusted myself with spray. I've found that if I mist my hat, my arms, my face and the back of my neck, I can keep away most or all of the flying insects. A quick spray on my pants has so far managed to keep me tick-free, though we're not in peak tick season right now. But since I carry a can in the pocket of my hiking pack, I can reapply or go heavier whenever I need to. The aerosol can doesn't hold as much as a pump sprayer, but it's very convenient. Since I use a small amount, a can tends to last me a while. Again, if I was going into a brushy or very swampy area where I'd use a lot of this stuff it might be a problem, but so far it's been fine for my casual hikes. This spray is perfect to keep in your pack for those times when you need just a little protection against insects. It's a good compromise between nothing at all and a nuclear option like Ben's 100.

No nasty smell just don't get it in your mouth
I've used Badger natural Bug Spray, Murphy's Naturals and some other kind and they all stunk to high heaven. I enjoy the smell of eucalyptus, lemongrass, and citronella but they're doing something wrong because it soaks into my clothes and becomes so rank that I gag walking them to the washing machine. This stuff, Natapel, is great! I like the smell. It works. I was outside all day yesterday, 84 degrees, humid, wet, while working in the yard and only 2 bites. My dirty outside clothes sat on the floor by my bed (because I do that-I know- laziness- I don't want to walk down to the laundry room in the basement everyday) and I didn't smell them and feel sick. Just DO NOT get this stuff in your mouth. I did and my lips and the tip of my tongue went numb and it didn't taste well- rather strong as you can imagine drinking a cup of picaridin. I'm happy!

Great for chiggers
I'm sure it works good on ticks but it 100% works for chiggers. We have them on our property and can't go anywhere without bug spray in the warmer months. This works great and isn't quite as harmful as the high doses of deet I normally use.

Nope
I live in Maine and we are suffering with tons of ticks, blackflies and mosquitoes right now. I was so excited about this stuff because it smells SO good. Usually bug spray is awful smelling, but I loved the way this smelled. First test- my kids went outside to play badminton. I sprayed both of them all over very thoroughly and they came back inside about 15 minutes later with multiple bites and said they thought it was actually attracting bugs. I was holding out hope it might still be effective for ticks. Yesterday I sprayed my daughter and her friend (heavy focus on feet and legs since ticks usually attach there and misted the rest of their bodies). They went walking on a paved road for about 45 minutes. When my daughter got back in the car, she had two ticks crawling up her leggings on her lower legs. I am so disappointed. After I smelled this stuff, I immediately bought the travel size 3 pack and I should have waited to see if it actually worked first.
