Best grip coating I have found yet!
I tried a few others and I like these the best!Others I have tried look and felt like they had been dipped in wax, the coating would also come apart once you got into a groove and warmed up the sticks, basically the coatings were useless and you were promptly left with regular sticks after about an hour of playing. The Promark uses a completely different coating, they look and feel like normal wood sticks ( aside from the grooved shape which I also like), The grip coating is heat activated, but it doesnt get too sticky or leave a residue on your hands. It also doesnt bunch up, peel or de-laminate from the wood. I have now played with these sticks for well over 20 hours and they still feel new, no bubbles, holes or de-lamination! I play on a Roland mesh drum set and the only suggestions I would make would be a version with plastic beads and maybe a version that is also a touch thicker and heavier. But I am still pretty happy with these as they are!5 Stars! I have already ordered more!

The Coating is Horrible
I love the design of the stick I Deeply respect Glenn Kotche. Whomever talked him into allowing promark to use whatever rubberized coating they did should probably be fired. Every time I use the sticks they rub on my hands removing the first layer of skin, and if that wasn't bad enough the dead skin stays stuck to the stick like some gross 2nd coating. I legitimately don't want to touch the sticks anymore they have become so nasty. If I didn't know better Id say this was Promark trying to follow apple into the planned obsolescence realm making a product with an already finite lifespan unusable faster. Either prepare to sand the coating off or buy different sticks.

Nice balance, Power and Finesse a in ProMark Signature Drum Stick
IF you view videos of Will Kennedy playing you will notice he plays in an open-handed style. That is he hardly ever crosses his hands but plays his left side hi hat with his left hand and snare and cymbal embellishments with his right hand. These sticks compliment his style and also provide him the power that he occasionally displays for instance at the thrash can endings of many tunes with the Yellowjackets. For me I have recently adapted his open-handed style and enjoy using his signature sticks while doing so. They help me with executing dynamics from very soft snare hits to strong back beats. If you have never seen Will Kennedy play his single stroke roll on the snare using his ProMark sticks I encourage you to do so. I believe he is naturally left handed on a righty set up drum kit. However his ride is just above the left side Hi hat. If he uses these sticks and plays beautifully then I wanted to use them also. Give them a try. They have a .580 diameter for power with a 3" taper for finesse playing and they are 16 1/2 " long.

Actually functional. Slightly unbalanced. Practical for heavier hitters.
I don't think these will end up being many peoples' main pair of sticks, but they don't feel nearly as much the novelty you'd expect them to be by looking at them. They really do afford more grip, and this is at the cost of feeling just *slightly* awkward, but surprisingly, the ridges themselves aren't what makes them feel awkward, but the fact that the sticks are heavier towards the tip. That imbalance doesn't make them ideal for lighter work, but that extra grip plus the weight to the front would make them great for heavier hitters who hold their sticks further back.I'd like to see a pair that addresses the balance issues, but that weight distribution might not be an issue for some.

Carpal Tunnel/ arthritis grip issues…
For the last few years, playing has been increasingly challenging as I’ve been developing carpal tunnel syndrome, predominately in my right hand. I got by with switching to holding my stick between my index and middle finger when my normal grip would give out… then I’d grab my industrial size box of alcohol wipes and disinfect the inevitable busted blisters there after the gig.No kidding at all, I almost cried after my first gig with these. I never thought once about my hand/grip. The waves and the coating allowed me to keep a light grip without the stick sliding about. In all aspects of my daily life, my issues with my had have decreased, only change I made was trying these sticks. Please, Promark, don’t ever discontinue these. They’ve changed my life in ways people without chronic pain can’t understand.

Great stick for rock/pop/heavy hitters who like a longer stick! (Active Grip Rocks!!!)
Love the Active Grip texture and the length. I thought I might be really bugged by the "knobs" near the butt of the stick, but I'm neutral...don't like them / don't hate them either. They are long, and that's good. However, they are not very responsive off cymbals.I think these are great for drummers who like a long stick (they're similar in length to the Questlove stick) and play mostly rock style ride/hat patterns. The Questlove stick is great if you need length and rebound.

It’s funky looking, it’s cool and it’s just an awesome performer
I liked the active grip so I gave this a try. Initial impression was the forward weight balance which is the opposite of the stick I used at the time but all change after my first quick session with it. It has since became my go-to pair.

I LOVE these sticks
I LOVE these sticks! Well balanced, and the action wave grip -- though it takes a little time to get used to -- is fantastic. If it feels weird at first, don't give up -- give it a little time and I'm guessing you'll adjust quickly. I did. I now find these sticks very comfortable, very natural, and they allow me to control the stick well and hit hard without having to grip so tight. And they are FANTASTIC for riding -- the balance, combined with the comfort of the waive grip -- allows for excellent control on the ride. And the sticky coating is great -- no fear of a stick slipping. After a month with these sticks, "ordinary" sticks now feel awkward and slippery. Can't see myself going back.
