excellent book on qigong

Truly for beginners
I had recently begun taking foundation qi gong at a local martial arts studio and became interested in the history of this amazing form of meditation. I found this book and wanted to devour it but instead found myself going back and rereading portions of it to better understand and permanently store everything I could into my brain.Well, physically I feel restored, mentally I am better able to deal with stress, and emotionally I am able to function without having hissy fits about petty things. My once a week half hour sessions are nice because the energy created by multiple people is fantastic, but these simple and effective exercises have become the foundation of my days. I do these 8 movments every morning, and feel like a different person.I was especially moved by the author's personal experiences with the practice of qi gong. I can totally believe this because with the combined qi gong at home and with others, chinese herbs and a qi gong healer, I have overcome arthritis in my hands, shoulders, hips and toes, chest pain, terrible indigestion and intestinal malfunctions. I'm sure it was all caused by stress over time, but if you do nothing it gets worse. I am 51 and feel better than I have for the last 10 years.Is this the fountain of youth? Or does it just slow down the process of aging? I don't know, but on my next checkup with my doctor I will be preaching alternative healing. My next step is to stop supporting pharmaceutical companies, as I am going to attempt to control my high cholesterol without their poison medication. Qi Gong for Conquering Asthma
Having become a serious practitioner of the energy healing arts, the more I feel a need to strengthen my mind, my body, and my breathing, which is crucial to energy healing. I am an asthmatic, which has prevented me from engaging in more physically vigorous exercises, so I bought this book. The exercises are simple to understand, and it is well written. So far, I am really liking everything about this book, and I am confident that goals of being more physically active, of being a better energy channel, and of one day progressing to higher levels of pranayama yoga will be reached from learning Qi Gong. It is a good addition to any library. Plus, your Chakras will stay balanced!

Best Choice for beginners, the elderly and the out of shape
The 8 exercises in this book are a soft and easy version of the Eight pieces of Brocade exercises that have gained massive popularity over the centuries. They way they are presented in this book, they are modified and easy to do. Many people become overwhelmed by chi or injury themselves when first attempting other qigong systems. This gentle system is safe to perform and in time results that are consistent with qigong practice will ensue.While not an actual qigong, the eight exercises do rejuvenate the body and make a nice introduction to asian energy practices.The text gives a brief understanding of chi, how it flows and the history of its use and development. The photos are clear and large enough to get a really good look at the correct posture and hand movements needed to do the exercises correctly.However it always best to have an experienced teacher hopefully from asia with a couple of decaeds experience because you can raise your chi too quickly and create real problems for yourself that are not easily resolved.

If you want a simple but true understanding of Qi Gong, this is for you.
I purchased this book a few months ago and I am just now getting to it. Wish I would not have waited so long. I am a Reiki Practitioner and have wanted to include Qi Qong into my self-practice since attending a workshop a few months ago. I am trying to study and incorporate all types of energy work into my practice and this book is concise but powerful enough to make this happen.I had a lot of misconceptions about the different schools which are now cleared up and I have been very vigilant in making sure I keep up with it on a daily basis along with my self-Reiki.I was worried about learning from the illustrations in the book since I am a visual learner and do much better with videos but I did not have a problem. It worked well. I recommend this book for anyone on their spiritual journey or just wanting improve their health and general well-being.

Excellent Starting Point for Qi Gong practice
This was the first book I read on Qi Gong and I bought several copies for friends and relatives after experiencing the benefits of this practice. I've only been at it for about three months, but I love doing it. The book is written in a very clear and compassionate way, the illustrations are clear, too. If you want to see the eight movements in action, there are a lot of Youtube videos available, just search under Ba Dua Jin or 8 Brocades, which is the Qi Gong style that Dr. Wilson is teaching us in his book. I love just opening the book anywhere and reading a page or two before falling asleep, then I'm ready to practice when I wake up..

Jump start your practice!
If you have wondered about qiqong, have wanted to start but cannot find a class or a teacher near you, or just want a short, relatively easy set of exercises to support your health and well-being this is a great how-to book.The 8 different movements in this Korean routine are clearly illustrated. The instructions are simple, detailed, and very easy to follow. In addition, Dr. Wilson gives background on qigong itself as well as the benefits of each movement. I read the book in a few hours, and set myself the goal of learning one new movement a day. Eight days later, I had a practice going. The whole routine takes just under 10 minutes. if you allow a few minutes for warm-up this energizing, suppling "work-out" will take just 15 minutes of your day.Highly recommended!

Really good.
This an excellent book covering extremely clearly the 8 pieces of silk brocade. These are the more simple and basic yet efficient movements of qigong. In addition to the text and vital to beginners are the photographs showing each part of the movement. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to cover the 8 pieces or for those who are beginners as mentioned in the title. I have found it invaluable.

Great exercises
I have always wanted to do Tai Chi and have never got around to learning it so decided to learn Qi Gong from a book. I really look forward to doing it every day and I am already feeling the benefits of it. Because it is easy there is no strain on my body and a lot of the aches and pains from weights and exercise over the years have gradually disappeared. I would recommend this for everyone that wants to enjoy beneficial exercise that does not tax the body.

simple but effective
This is a simple, clear explanation of the 8 silken movements for good health. It's easy to follow, and has good pictures. It sets the movements in perspective, giving background information and helpful advice.The only thing extra I've done is to type out the instructions for each movement onto a double sided A4 sheet, in a plastic wallet, so I don't have to keep referring back to the book in mid-pose, but can just peer across to the table. Have now done these daily for 2 months and feel more flexible all round. Would recommend for anyone who wants a simple trouble-free exercise regime you can carry out in your living room.

Learning an relaxing discipline
The book teaches you about the moves needed to learn this discipline. It takes practice and patience to to do properly. It can be a relaxing way to learn a discipline. The book is well illustrated and you study the moves in progression.For those who cannot find the time or travel to a gym, it is excellent personal exercise done in your home. Good, quality product.
