Review: Excellent inverter for my RV (and backup power for my house) - After a lot of research, I selected the PS-2200KAR primarily to provide clean AC power in my RV, and also as a backup power source for my house during outages -- the trailer sits on an RV pad by my garage. We always boondock (i.e., no shore power) when camping. This inverter was incorporated into our trailer's solar power system: 800 watts of rooftop solar into an Epever (6415AN) MPPT controller to charge two 12v SOK 206AH batteries (in parallel) powering the inverter which, in turn, outputs AC to a TS-30 automatic transfer switch to power all AC circuits in the trailer. While camping the inverter can easily run our microwave and rooftop soft-start air conditioner (although not both at the same time). I have run the air conditioner for more than an hour with no issues. When towing, we also can now run our refrigerator on AC instead of propane. The inverter, batteries, and solar charger are located under a dinette seat (see photo), so I installed three PC fans (two for air intake, one for exhaust) to keep everything running cool; the fans are controlled by a digital thermostat. This system has seen heavy use and has been running flawlessly for the past 10 months. When the trailer is parked at home, I run a heavy gauge extension cord from one of its AC outlets to our house's generator input box which connects to a 10-circuit manual transfer switch. Now, when PGE has one of its frequent power outages, I can immediately switch on house circuits to run off of the trailer's batteries/inverter. In this mode, the inverter has powered our house for hours, including the refrigerator, microwave, HVAC gas furnace/fan, WIFI router, and all the lights (LEDs) throughout our home. Now, when the power goes out, I only have to drag out and connect my portable generator if the outage lasts for more than 4-5 hours. I highly recommend this inverter!
Review: So far so good - I bought this inverter to use with a large 200-amp hour battery to provide emergency power to run my fridge and other essentials when the power goes out (thanks PG&E). I wanted a pure sine-wave unit in order to provide clean power to my fridge and microwave. A pure-sine wave unit is necessary for these devices as the non-sine wave units will cause additional wear and tear in addition to making the devices run less efficiently. The reason why I picked this inverter was because of the 36-month warranty and because it seems to have the best reviews out of all the other inverters. It seems well built. Upon initial testing it worked great. I plugged in a shop-vac as a test and it ran fine, just as if it was plugged into the wall. I decided to take some measurements and here were my findings: With the vacuum running, the inverter showed an approximate 1300-watt draw and a battery voltage of 12.4. At the same time I put a clamp-on ammeter on one of the battery leads and it showed a little over 130-amp draw. That equates to around 80% efficiency which isn't bad. Another good thing, was I felt the leads and the inverter and they were not warm at all! The included leads seem to be sized properly and the inverter seems to have an adequate cooling system. The fans did kick on once I fired up the vacuum, and shut off as soon as I turned-off the vacuum, so this inverter is dead silent when it has a minimum load, unlike other inverters where the fan runs all the time which can be annoying. As far as standby current, when the initially powered up with no load, it draws around 600-milliamps, which isn't bad for an inverter this size. However what is interesting is when you put a load on the inverter and then remove the load it still maintains a current draw of around 1.2 amps. I had to power down the inverter and power it back on again in order for the current draw to settle back down to 600-milliamps. I am not sure why this is. Also, with the inverter powered off completely I did measure a draw of around 60-milliamps. So just by having the inverter hooked up regardless if it is turned on or not it will draw a slight amount, though this amount is so minute that is negligible and I would say is normal. As long as you have a charger plugged in at least once-per-month or have a solar charging system then you do not have to worry about leaving this inverter hooked up to your battery 24/7 Al-in-all, first impressions are great and it seems like it will fit my needs. Time will tell how well this inverter holds up!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the difference between the black one and silver one?**
A: 1.The black one is an upgraded professional version, it has better performance. The negative pressure drive will ease this version works better.
 2.The black one is a new and upgrade version, it has 36 months of warranty;
3.It has two LCD displays:  a display on remote and on product;
4.Black one is a FCC approved version

**Q: I want to connect the terminal output to a circuit onboard my RV that is sometimes energized by generator or shore power. Will it damage the inverter?**
A: You will need to install a power transfer switch which will automatically disconnect the inverter when you plug into shore power. (Or you can do it the old fashioned method with turning off the inverter input circuit breaker and turning on the main input power circuit breaker on your RV panel)

**Q: I need to have this plugged into a 12V outlet in my vehicle. Is this an option?**
A: Woa.... You cannot connect this to a car outlet. It's 2200 Watts at 120 volts is 18 AMPS (probably clipped to 15A on output plugs). That's on the AC side. This Inverter is for folks who want to power up things like Refrigerators, Microwaves etc. BUT at say 9 AMPS average to the 120 volt side it's 10X that on the 12 volt side (90 Amps). You need to wire this with special 0 - 2 Ga wire that is about the thickness of a 1/2 inch bolt! Anything less and your battery will melt the wires to your cigarette lighter. If you want a cigarette ligher sized inverter go to Walmart.

**Q: what is the surge wattage of this 2200 watt inverter ?**
A: The manual suggests a surge rating of 4400 watts but anything over 2200 watts for .05 seconds will cause the unit to automatically shut down. Any surge ratings on this inverter are not of any value or use. Some other brands of inverters can handle a surge for .5 to a couple of seconds but this inverter will immediately shut down. If you are trying to run and air conditioner then you will want to upsize your selection. We Also have the 4000 watt version of this inverter and it will easily run everything in our RV (including air conditioners and air conditioner/heat pumps

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good pure sine wave inverter
*by J***N on December 20, 2025*

Have had this installed for 17 months in my 1997 Winnebago Minnie Winnie motorhome. It has worked flawlessly and I am very happy with it. It is connected to a 460 amp-hour LiFEPO4 battery. I can run the microwave from it and also have run the Air Condiitioner for over 45 minutes. It has a very low idle power consumption (I measured it around 6 watts with no loads on it). When I did overload it the inverter protected itself and shut down until the overload was gone.
