Elgato EyeTV Mobile
I just purchased a small 7" battery operated TV last week, and promptly returned it to Amazon for a refund because it was complete junk. However, this product is EXCELLENT! I just downloaded the iOS app, took a few minutes to set it up and scan for channels and that was it. I live 12 miles from NYC and receive a strong signal, and although there were only five channels available on the device, it picked up the HDTV signal for both NBC and Fox and worked perfectly. As an emergency TV to use when the next hurricane hits and there's no power, it just can't be beat. This TV delivers exactly what it advertises, and maybe more channels will come on board at a later time.

Great in Mobile TV served areas
It's a mixed bag for most viewing areas. This model works only for Mobile TV viewing, not normal DTV viewing. Mobile TV is not even close to being available in all markets. The nearest to me is 200 miles from my home. This receiver works fine on a road trip. Be sure to check which markets are served before you buy this.

Only one channel available, and that was FOX
Before ordering, I checked the Dyle the mobil web site to be sure I was in a area that had TV service for the mobil device. The web site confirmed I was in a service area and that 6 TV stations were being provided. When I got my system I found I could get only one station and not the six outlined at the Dyle site. The one station I got was the one station that I did not want (FOX) and even that station did not always show up on repeated attempts to have the unit find other stations. I returned the system. Although the one station came in with excellent reception, I think it is way to early to invest in technology to take advantage of it yet. You should ask yourself, who is paying the bills to provide this service. Until that is resolved, long term dependable service should be in question for any investment on your part.

Elgato EyeTV Mobile for 30-Pin iPhone and iPad (Black) (10026010)
I have been trying to get this thing to run on my third generation iPad for two days now. I have tried everything. It gets to the point of waiting for the device and just sits there (for hours) if I let it. The demo video shows it starting when first plugged in... mine does not. Don't waste your time! PS... Why doesn't it just pull stations off the air!!!Update comments:If you are considering buying this product... Please read this first...I have been a long time user of Elgato products (over the years). I have had a great experience with their products (until EyeTV Mobile) A product that I had seen advertised on their "European" web pages was a tiny device that would connect to mobile devices (or run on it's own) but play "free/fee" over the air TV broadcast. I lusted for a couple of years.Recently The Elgato EyeTV Mobile for 30-Pin iPhone (4 & 4S) and iPad (2 & 3) appeared (on USA web pages) A quick check on Amazon... and yes there it was. So excited was I, that it didn't register that the reviews (at the time) were 5 or 1 (far more 1s). The device states that it doesn't use free over the air TV but rather a service that retransmits "SOME" channels on another frequency (dyle is the service) - (that is free just now, but "may not be" in the future (for $90.28... total cost w/S&H + Tax = $99.27)OK, lets get to it... It took me almost a week of trying many different ways to get this thing to work. My original comment... I gave it one star because it wasn't working... now I give it two stars (only) because my stubbornness finally got it to... ??? work ???.If you have stayed with me so far... I won't bore you with a day by day, blow by blow, "punch-out". So here is a list of things...Tried to get it to "fire-up" on my 3rd generation iPad at least 18 to 20 times.Tried to get it to work with my 4th generation iPhone about 8 times.Tried to charge the device no less than 3 times (red light to green).Tried switching the two antennas 6 different times.Kept looking for EyeTV.app updates numerous times.Trying in house, also by windows(s), and of corse outside.I could go on... but rather I will tell you how it started working (for me).Coincidentally the EyeTV.app got upgraded and I received my new iPhone 5 (with Lightning to 30 pin cable converter) The next time I tried to use the Elgato EyeTV Mobile with the iPhone 5 and converter cabe and updated app... it (grudgingly, slowly) coughed and sputtered to life... barely. The first time it pulled in two Spanish speaking stations (barely) useless to me. Well after several more scans it managed to receive Channel 04 (English and Channel 11 (English). The picture quality on the channels was "dismal" at best.OK lets end this! If you are thinking of buying this product, DON'T!!! If you received it as a gift (XMas) return it for a refund ASAP!!! Don't be a dope like me and spend $100 on the most rip-off product of the year. I have seen Video Podcasts that just rip this thing to shreds and make fun of the people that have bought it. Take $5 or $10 dollars and go down to your local Goodwill Store and do everybody a favor (except Elgato) and get a portable used battery operated portable TV (color).DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Good quality broadcast quality, limited channels available.....
I have been a long time user of Elgato television tuners, which work very well. The Eye TV Mobile is the latest addition to their inventory working in conjunction with the newly deployed Dyle service in the US. I live and work in the Washington DC suburbs and the reception has been quite impressive, however, the Dyle service is largely limited to 3 local broadcasters, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliates. Hopefully Dyle will continue to add additional broadcasters in the future to expand the value of this purchase.I have a brand new iPad Mini and the Eye TV Mobile requires that you purchase the 30 pin to Lightning Connector. Even with this added bulk, the tuner is stable and mounts firmly. Note, older generation ipads, itouch and iphones with 30 pin connectors will not require the converter, which I purchased at the Apple Store ( use the apple branded converter ).Battery life is pretty good and will greatly be extended by reducing the brightness of your device screen by half. The $99.00 cost ( I purchased on amazon ) is pricey given the limited content available at this time, but again, hopefully this will change over time. For those uninitiated, the Eye TV Mobile does not require any broadband connection, simply over the air reception via the small extendable and collapsible antenna included. Note, I recently attempted to watch the NFC Wild Card games on Fox and CBS this last weekend and it was exempted. Apparently the NFL has broadcast restrictions, I was disappointed. All and all, impressed and would recommend. Please check your local market to make sure Dyle is possible in your zipcode before purchasing!
