Theatre work
I am the technical director for a local high school and when the director said he needed a pair of door that could collapse on the actors, I needed a solution that would be both safe and economical to implement. I chose 1" foam insulation board as the base for the door, but I needed a quick and efficient way to product 8 window panes in 4 panels of foam. Cutting 32 holes with a utility knife was not going to do it and using the hot wire I had would take too long.I decided to invest in this product and it was a life saver. It took a little longer than I expected to cut out the first panel because I had to become familiar with the tool and the sensitivity of the temperature settings. After that, I breezed through the remaining panels. I glued them together and added the trim.Doors were installed with Aircraft cable to allow tech to gently lower them on the actors. The show opened Thursday, closes Today (11/14/20) and the set worked perfectly. Thanks to WINONS Electric Hot Knife, our play was a huge success.

Useable but can be improved
Does what it is intended to do, albeit with some gripes. The manual mentions temperature control in numbers, with 15 being the max. The knob has no numbers, just + or -. Didn't try different types of foam but had to use highest setting for gun case pluck foam. The more it is used, the longer it takes to heat back up to temperature. It definitely does better with a cool down period every 5 minutes. The blade is sturdy but warps with use. The front and rear blade sections no longer line up. The entire blade itself curved. The trigger hurt the fingers after prolonged use. It is made of hard, cheap plastic. The handle is angled such that it is awkward to cut curves that require you to switch handles. With all the gripes mentioned, it may still be good for certain projects. However, this one is going back. The gun case foam I need to cut leaves a sticky residue from the heat. It's not ideal for what I need.

Hot hot knife
We haven’t had much time to use this knife, so I’ll have to answer this later.

Superb Quality
I bought this tool helping my friend to build recording studio. I used it to cut foam panels for soundproofing walls and the tool worked just perfect. Yes it’s a little more expensive than some other ones but I didn’t regret: fist of all the soundproof foam panels cost a lot if you buy them, so it’s much cheaper to make it yourself, and secondly before buying this one I’ve tried to use a different cheaper hot knife and it just has died after couple hours of work. Unlike that one this powerful knife was working whole day cutting different types and thickness of foam making nice and clean edges and leaving almost no dust and crumbs after work. The recommendation is just don’t try to cut to fast because the blade bends, it’s thin blade like any other hot knife’s blade. So overall it was very good tool for my project. Also you get very nice and convenient box to store the knife in it

Not so good for cutting clean lines in open cell foam for rifle cases
I ordered this thinking it would be quicker and easier than building a heat wire foam cutter. I was wrong; it is actually quite difficult to cut the foam in Pelican rifle cases with this heat knife. If you're planning on cutting open-cell foam, do yourself a favor and make a heat wire cutter instead; it is worth the bother.

This thing is HOT!
So my exact usage for this tool may not be what you're using it for. I am using it to create custom packaging for oddly shaped electronics. Receivers, Speakers, Instruments and the like. This hot knife heats up very fast and stays at the temperature you want it to stay at, no matter if it's at max or at the lowest setting. It comes with a brush that I use to clean off styrofoam while I'm using it. It's optimal for the heat gun to be clean when you use it. Cuts styrofoam very fast. Has two blades, one short and one longer.

Cheap
Took very long to heat up, and when it did, it couldn't come close to handling 2" rigid insulation. Went slowly and the blade bent immediately and then took minutes to go 2'. I only wanted this to cut around brackets, not the whole length of the insulation. Total waste of time, accuracy and money!
