This New Kelly Turnbull Novel Is the Best Yet
Kurt Schlichter's latest installment of his Kelly Turnbull post-America dystopian thrillers is his best yet. It's always a pleasure to see an author improve over time, and Turnbull, his hero, is turning into a fitting replacement for the iconic Mitch Rapp, Vince Flynn's template for this particular genre. This latest offering has Turnbull personally invading San Francisco, the heart of the Peoples Republic of California, in order to repulse a Chinese invasion and overthrow the inevitable hell that all such socialist paradises become.Schlichter maintains that his Turnbull novels, set in a post-America period following The Split that creates the USA and the People's Republic along the geographic lines you can see on any current political map, are meant as warnings, not wish fulfillment fantasies, and I taker him at his word. It is, however, impossible for long-suffering American conservatives not to enjoy Trumbull's patented response to marauding Pantifa clones - a .45 hollowpoint in the face - or not to warm to his mercilessly hilarious dissection of progressive ways, especially their convoluted speech and thought codes.Speaking of which, not so long ago most his his progressive characters would have seemed ridiculously over-the-top, cardboard caricatures running 1984-style nightmares nobody would imagine could ever occur in the real world.Today, those nightmares are becoming normalized in the headlines of our approved propaganda dissemination outlets.Anyway, give this book a try. I think you will be pretty happy with it. I know I certainly was.-- Bill Quick, author of Lightning Fall

There are doggies... (and I am Putin’s puppet, it’s true)
(Oops... for the record I forgot to mention that i live in the People’s Republic of California and that Putin’s rubles are saved in a vodka bottle to help me get the hell out of here... now, back to the review!)When I saw that Instapundit already had his copy, and had read it, I had to get to it. I read the first, People's Republic, while in Greece, listening to podcasts of James Comey (who's name makes a surprise and welcome visit in the book) defending his actions. Now, two years later, we are seeing some of the craziness Kurt mentioned in his first book (published in 2016) actually coming true. It's a great book - I think his best (he's gotten progressively (oops!) better at his craft over the last few years.I love my country, and hope to God that this alt-history book stays that - an alt-history.Kurt, you need to come up with more books per year. Sorry. Or let others come and play in your history. When the book is out in a while, I may circle back with spoiler based reviews, but for the moment, enjoy!

Making Liberals cry........
Want to give it a 4.5 just because of editing issues. As far as the story goes, I have been waiting for this book for a while. Reading it was like living my AD and Reserve days in the 80's. Back in CA listening to 91X, Baja CA, spending time at the San Diego zoo, Camp Pendleton and Camp Roberts. I am not sure if Kurt got every liberal POS named in the book, but he came close, along with an honorable mention to the skipper, Capt. Kristol (AHOY). It was a fitting completion to the current series, and it seems that ol Kelly is headed to the East coast to cause meham and destruction. Do not know if Kelly will have a side kick but his convert from the blue side seems to have turned into a kick ass patriot. You will not be disappointed reading this unless you are a liberal, hate freedom, orange man bad, socialist, open border pro-noun using looser. If you are, just buy it for your brother in law that works hard and keeps a nice yard.

Kelly Turnbull is back!
Kelly Turnbull is back, badder than ever. Leaving behind more than his usual number of corpses of Socialists, Communists and Quislings. The re-unification of the United States begins. A number of old characters return to assist Kelly (and oppose him). Starts out fast and never stops. Sets the stage for novel number #5

A great read, and time for the author to aim higher.
As good as the others in the series with well plotted action and military stuff in spades. In future novels the author could move away from the volume of blood and ballistics. Focus a more on higher level plot lines. Like the 2nd novel but more elevated still. Like what are the leftist leaders thinking when they split the country apart and how do they deceive their followers? Why are people following them?

Self-indulgent fantasy of super-human individual military prowess
So when it comes to the story’s protagonist's death count, the bad guys are something like 0 for 120 in this book alone. Sorta strains this reader’s credibility. Lots of shooting, lots of gun porn – too much to my taste. It was shallow on the politics and very shallow on the poor people caught up in the socialist nightmare – they were but NPCs here.Loved the local scenery – Camp Roberts, Silicon Valley – but I got out about 5 years ago.Overall, a self-indulgent fantasy of super-human individual military prowess although the paratroopers’ little battle at Hwy 92 and I-280 was plausible except for the stupidity of the Chinese. I suspect they’re a cut about the Iraqis in martial competence. Please, Kurt, you know the real world of personal combat is never this easy nor are the morality and politics ever this simple. I share your political views but I know you can spin a more complex, insightful, and revealing story.

Good read, excellent series continuation, timely warning (as advertised) but the storyline works
Excellent. Fans of previous books in the series will appreciate this one too.Especially recommended for progressives/liberals who are tired of libertarian/anarchic dystopian novels!!

Prophetic!
A great sense of humour in a sad story. I may live to see something very much like this in the not too distant future.

Fun peek at "progress"
The series continues to be an action packed poke at liberal Utopia.
