very nice shimmer
I read some complaints saying not a lot of paint in the wells.............28 colors for $9.66......it is worth the price, so you won't get a lot of paint for that price..... The colors have a beautiful sheen, shimmery colors that are sheer. I bought these to use on art journals and you can paint over newsprint and printed papers and see the letters under these beautiful colors. Someone complained they smelled, mine did not smell. My only complaint is the brush is worthless, but I have some good art brushes so it is not an issue for me. For a child or someone who does not mind "hairs" falling off the brush, well then it is OK. Overall you get what you pay for and for $10 these are worth it.

Good value for money
This is my first of shimmer water colors. I am new to painting; I mainly just make cards or scrapbooks, and art journals. I am not sure how they would hold up for a painting but they are beautiful colors. Very shimmered. Take a bit to wet but not bad in my opinion. Figured I would try these and see how much I used them before investing in a fancy set. The only downside is the color order. I don’t really think it matters I just prefer grouping colors that are alike, but for the price I can’t complain.

Very good product, not such a great seller!
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product, once I actually got it. Normally, I wouldn't downgrade a product (deducted a star) because of the seller but since there appears to only be one of them, I am, and this is why. The first time I received the product, in the requisite time, it was the wrong product. So, I called Amazon, got a refund and reordered the product. Before checking my mailbox, I checked my Amazon order page which said that there had been a delivery delay. Strike two! The next day, I finally received the order. It is therefore, hard to say whether it was Amazon who screwed up or the seller, but since this is the only problem I've had like this in years, I'm assuming it was the seller. That said, once I finally received and tested the product, my attitude improved significantly! As you can see from the swatches, the paint is shiny on both light and dark paper (both light and dark being watercolor paper) and is quite shiny, as I hoped it would be, on both. As you can see, the colors are lighter on the black paper than the ivory paper, on which they are the same color as the paints themselves. In addition, they wet easily and have a nice creamy texture. I recommend wetting them to the thickness of say tomato soup for a full, opaque coverage. The colors are quite pretty and include both warm and cool shades, which is nice. The flesh/light peach color is especially pretty and shiny but all the colors are quite nice--not a dud among them, in my opinion. For the price, I think this is an excellent value for the quality of paint--both the colors and the amount of shine for each, although there is not a lot of paint in each paint indentation--probably not quite a half-pan's worth would be my guess.I got these paints the same day I received some Daniel Smith iridescent watercolors (a very high quality, artist grade watercolor) and these paints compare favorably, especially since the entire palette of 28 paints costs about the same as a 5 ml tube of Daniel Smith! BTW, if you're looking for some actual black watercolor paper on which to use these paints, Stonehenge makes some which is quite nice, although I don't think Amazon carries it. I only found it in full watercolor sheets but with a nice deckled edge on 2 sides (nice for the Xmas cards I bought it for).I am confidant that you will be happy purchasing this product, assuming you actually receive it correctly!

Pearlescent/Metallic watercolors - Wow!
Brilliant, beautiful colors in both the pearlescent and regular sets. I bought quite a few of each for gifts and to donate to a nonprofit. The pearlescent/metallic colors look great on black watercolor paper. I highly recommend using with the Mudder Watercolor Brush Pen set https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EONVX5Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1The case is sturdy and slim. This plus the Mudder watercolor brush set and a pad of watercolor paper would easily fit into a backpack already filled with other items, making it great for spur of the moment art on the go.Now I want a set for myself!

gorgeous colors!
I just got these yesterday--and just made a color swatch--the colors are wonderful--look just like the trays of paint, and they do have a opalescent finish! Nice price, nice color selection, nice size of pans (I think these are what they call half-pans--I'm sure I'll be buying these again! I mostly use colored pencils in my coloring books, but I can see where these will fit right in! Tried 'em in a less expensive book--the way I do it, it didn't bleed thru. Oh, the brush is crummy, but I had other brushes, so that didn't bother me. Still gave it 5 stars anyway.

I love this set
I love this set. It is high quality watercolor paint. However, the pigment color (dry) in person is paler than in picture and also the pigment when painting with water is bright and medium-heavy so it is easy to work with. In terms of price, it is a bit more expensive. After I almost finish the set bought the set from here, I went to Michael's craft store for another same set for my project. The set from Michael's cost around $6.99-8.99. I am still however, very satisfied with this set and would love to buy more other craft supplies from Artist's Loft. It is cheap but high quality ( not too quality like winsor). They have the best craft supplies for students and people who desperately need art supplies but can't afford over expensive ones) I really recommended this set.

You get what you pay for
While these are beautiful colors, I agree with the reviewer who stated that this set is remarkably skimpy. It's like the bottom of the pans have only a thin coating of paint. I'd have to buy five or six of these to get the amount of paint I'd want in one set so you might as well spend the money and get what you're looking for. Also the plastic case is extremely fragile and the lid broke from just opening it and I'm very careful with how I handle my supplies. On the positive side, gorgeous colors; wish the colors were labelled. Very pearlescent.

Great paints for a great price!
I was looking for something like these in a different brand. When I saw the cost difference, I had to give these ones a shot. I’m so glad I did. They are just what I was looking for less than half the cost!

Great value for money.
Very surprising product for the price. The pearlescent effect goes on and on even when reusing and/or diluting colors a lot.
