Sandstone Water Absorbent Hand Crafted Octagon Coasters for Drinks- Set of 6-4 inches Wide Thirsty Stone bar/Drink Coasters Made from Real Solid Stone (Without Holder, Set of 6)

I was searching for some new sandstone coasters. After almost 20 years, the original set of 4 I had needed some replacement as one got lost when I moved and another one cracked right in half when someone dropped it - again they were used for 20 years...The only thing I had an issue with is that all of the newer ones I came across are ginormous now - like 4 inches or more across. I really only need them for mugs and highballs. Plus I needed them to fit my original wooden holder too. These were the ONLY ones that do because of their shape and flattened edges - they 'just' fit! Plus my old ones were round - which was great - but these octagon-ally shaped ones are different and I like that. I avoided the square ones completely as that just seems wasteful as none of my glasses or mugs are square - plus then I assume the 4 corners have more of a chance of breaking or dinging or whatever.I only have two issues with these coasters - hence the 4 stars. First two out of the 6 are bigger then the other 4 - so stuck up slightly more in the holder above the others. Not too much of a big deal as 4 were the same size - I just put the larger ones in the kitchen to use on my breakfast table. Secondly the cork on the back of these coasters seems like no cork I have ever seen - and very dark too. I think maybe the back is a cork composite or something like that. My old ones always had a soft cork backing - soft to the touch, soft on the table - like most cork that you touch - it is soft. I rubbed these down a lot with my hands and some roughness of the cork seems to have subsided. I think, though, I am actually going to take a really fine sandpaper to them and see if that helps smooth the backing and make it a bit softer too. Maybe it is the glue they use - it hardens the cork? I dunno.Either way these look good and arrived safely and have a cool shape. I am looking forward to 20 plus years with these as well. I will update this review if I notice any issues with absorbency and stuff.

These coasters were packed well, they are weighty- they stay put and don't stick to the bottom of the glass, and they ARE ABSORBENT. Been around the block with everything else- sick of it. I want a coaster that soaks up condensation so it doesn't pool around the bottom of the glass; doesn't stick to the bottom of the glass when you pick it up, looks classy and works. These coasters work PERFECTLY. They also have a thin padded (cork?) material on the bottom so they won't scratch surfaces. Finally real coasters.

I have purchased another brand in the past, but I liked the look (shape, color and striations) of the Marbco coasters so I bought a set.The Marbco coasters are thinner than the Thirstystone coasters I've had. As a result their absorbency is not as good. In fact under a glass of ice and liquid these coasters were "soaked through" in about 1/2 hour.Disappointing.

my apt is all very earthy and homey, with modern touches. these work perfectly for my aesthetic. they absorb so well! I only have issue with putting an ice coffee from dunkin on them. The cups sweat so much and by the time i went back to the room the coaster was soaked. but it was a super big cold brew so my bad for leaving it there so long. other than that they are perfect.

I absolutely love these coasters. They absorb incredibly well. Glasses of iced water- not a problem. Since they absorb so well, there is no issue with the coaster sticking to the bottom of the glass.This set is a good, sturdy thickness. They don’t look cheap at all. I love the coloring, and the unique shape.My only suggestion is to buy a holder that completely goes across the bottom (I hope that makes sense). The recommended holder when I made my purchase had more of an open bottom. It’d be great for bigger coasters, but these had one corner constantly falling through and hitting the table.

i did have some sandstone coasters for yrs but wanted a new set. i found these and love them! i love the shape most are square or round. and a big plus is you get 6 and all the others for same price or more you only get 4 and they are real sandstone cause i got mine then i got a set for a gift for my brother and they are differnt. which i love. but i did have to wait a while because they were out. which to mean that means that they are not mass produced. i use them all the time and i dont worry about them sraching my glasses! they have nice weight to them and are thick so if you drop them no worries about them breaking. so if you want a nice set get them they are a great product!!

These coasters are lovely to look at, especially as they darken with moisture, and they protect my beloved antique wood dining table from even the sweatiest beverages (even better than my old set of Thirstystone coasters). I love the unique shape of these and that they come in a set of six so there's enough for everyone! Each one is unique, as this design is not just printed on; it's a genuine striation in the stone. If you were to drop one and chip a corner off, it would not damage the design (in fact, it might just give a little extra character to the piece). The cork on the bottom protects my table and the other coasters from scratches.

I have been wanting good coasters that actually work. BAZINGA! These beautiful coasters work perfectly! We don't live in a high humidity area (Alabama) anymore but our glasses still sweat and cause water rings. These remedied the water ring problem. They are big enough to handle almost any glass and and look great on the table. You won't be disappointed if you decide on these table accessories.
