Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Tripod Adapter Gen 2

Does what it says it does and is easier by far, than the Vortex adapter that i originally had for this. I was nearly not going to buy this becuase of the reviews i read here that said it was sloppy or unstable. I am glad i tried it our for myself. It takes some tweaking but i have it set up very solid and very stable. it doesnt rock or wobble on my Vortex Summit Tripod. But again it took me really looking hard and how to get it set up the Best it can be. Make sure the bolt that you set the base into, is screwed down tightly (Flathead screw driver) and that you have threaded the base of this adapter to the screw-plate that comes with your tripod and fits into your tripod head. If you do those things, it fits very well!

Works great with my Vortex Binos and Vortex tripod. Quick and easy to put on and take off when in a hunting situation. Not worried about losing little pieces in the wild.

I used it for a few seasons and the silver release broke in half and it dropped my glasses in the rocks. It was a great cheap adapter but anything that breaks after a couple years and drops my glasses in the rocks is not something I am willing to put up with. I bought the outdoorsman for more money but it is a better product. Better quality.

Good execution of a clever idea. This binocular mount allows quick release of your binocular and holds it steady on the tripod, regardless whether your tripod has a quick release shoe. Pretty cool. I bought an extra mounting lug and use this on several different binoculars. The system is lightweight and easy to use. I rubbed a little bar soap on the sides of the mount to make mounting and unmounting even faster (the design tolerances are suitably tight for stability, and the soap helps with sliding heavier binos on and off. The soap is not necessary, just a user tweak.....) I use this system with up to 50mm binoculars. My 20x60 pentax binos, which weigh a little over 2 lbs, seem to be a little too heavy, but my 10x50s, 7x50s, 8x36, and 7x35s are all just fine on it. And it comes in a nifty tin box that can be repurposed for other things.

Fits my Sig Zulu 7's perfectly. Easy to take on with warm hands. Might be a little harder with gloves on or cold hands. It fits in my bino harness with it attached to the binos so that isn't an issue for me. I use this on a Vortex tripod with a Benro S2 pan head for hunting. I bought the gen 2 becauseithad the arca mount built in, and it works with all of the arca clamps I have tried it in. (The Benro doesn't work with this or any of my other arca type bases, but you can attach an arca type clamp to the S2's plate then all your arca plates will work with it).

This product is awesome. The design idea is great. It is awesome to quickly attach and detach my binoculars from my tripod. The only downside is that the lockup is a bit sloppy. With that said it is not much so this is still my main tripod adapter. The slop is definitely tolerable instead of having to screw and unscrew an adapter every time. Highly recommend

Good. Functions as expected. Used to quickly put on and off a tripod when hunting. Allowed the attachment to stay on the binos when you put them back into the harness or pouch. Be aware that it is a little loose when engaged so in heavy wind this will not be an adequate mount to eliminate a shaky view. But usually in heavy wind your tripod will shake anyway, so your call.

This is one of those products you really want to work. I have a set of Vortex Diamondback 12x50 binoculars that I purchased this item to use with. The quck detach feature proved to work well. However, and unfortunately, the nut fitment to the upright proved to have too much slop. When I would bring the object into view, locked in the tripod, and let go of the binos the object would no longer be in view or at the very bottom of the viewing area due to the movement of the nut on the upright. This forced me to go back to a solid tripod adaptor. I doubt this would be as much of an issue with lighter weight optics, but anything heavier will prove to be problematic.
