Excellent value
WEAR AN N95 RESPIRATOR IF YOU MIGHT GENERATE AIRBORNE DUST!This is food grade which means it contains 1% or less of crystalline silica, but that means it can still have a little. There is a small risk of silicosis. It is therefore still 99% amorphous silica and getting that in your delicate lungs is still harmful. Be careful.I bought this to dust my attic and other areas insect pests might be. For that use its a great value and i have a huge excess.Notes on use for insect control: the insects need hard exoskeletons and they need to be in a dry environment. This wont kill caterpillars for example, but should work well on ants or spiders in a dry place like an attic. If you dust vegetables to control insects you will need to reapply after a rain. The water will render it ineffective. For longterm control in an attic, it cant be beat.Warnings on DE in general: DO NOT INHALE. DO NOT ALLOW ANIMALS TO INHALE. My mother raises horses and dusty feed or hay is bad for them. Adding this to their feed could harm them because of the risk of inhalation, not the ingestion. I have also read horror stories of someone dusting a cat for fleas and the cat died of pneumonia.

Works on Japanese beetles.
Works on Japanese beetles they look like ladybugs but they bite. Got a sprayer and did my entire attic in about 60 seconds. Every spider in that MF is dead. It will float in the air and with the sprayer I do about a half an acer in 5 minutes. Definitely recommend getting buckets to put the excess in as it will go inert if it gets wet and with moisture. I have my own well and don't want to use pesticides and this cut my bugs way down.

Kills bed bugs and fleas.
Does what I need it to do and at a fair price. We accidently brought home bedbugs from a motel and are using the diatomaceous earth as part of our pest control. We are using a plastic condiment bottle to squirt it into any cracks and spaces that the bugs could hide. The diatomaceous earth lasts forever and any insect that crawls through it dehydrates and dies. It has no smell and is not harmful to the people and pets. When using it a dust mask is probably a good idea, as it becomes airborne easily, but settles quickly. It is a slight off white color. The bag is more than enough, but my daughter uses it for her chickens too dust bath in, killing any mites or lice.

Got rid of fleas when nothing else worked!
I do not know if this is typical, but my order arrived within 2 days! I was very pleased. And the diatomaceous earth worked very well in getting rid of my flea problem. The fleas were worse than I'd ever seen them here in Sacramento, CA this year. We had tried several major brands of conventional insecticides, both indoors and out. They all helped for a short time, but then the fleas came back. Even those poisons that were supposed to last a month or more failed to do so, and the fleas always returned within a few days. By contrast, the diatomaceous earth started working very quickly, and took about three days to resolve the flea problem completely. Haven't had a recurrence since. I give it 4 stars out of 5 only because it was a bit unpleasant to work with, but not more so than other products I had tried. It has the consistency of flower, so it gets into the air when you spread it. I spread it by hand on the carpet indoors, and I used a drop spreader on the yard. The drop spreader worked okay, although the distribution rate was difficult to control. I had to open it up as wide as it would go to get a decent amount to come out. But for a very big yard, I didn't see a better option.Indoors we left the diatomaceous earth on the carpet for 3 days before vacuuming it up. We used flea traps (Victor M230 Ultimate Flea Trap, available on Amazon.com) to monitor progress. Once the traps weren't catching any more fleas, we vacuumed the carpets, and the diatomaceous earth came up very well, leaving no residue. The worst part was putting up with it for 3 days. It doesn't smell bad or anything, but whenever you walk on it, it kind of puffs up out of the carpet in little dust clouds. It did not kick up my allergies, but it did irritate my breathing passages a bit. And strangely, it seamed to have a negative effect on my sleep. I can't explain this, but it sure seemed that way. Still, for me it was a lot easier to tolerate than the fleas jumping on my ankles. But anybody with asthma or other breathing problems should beware!Having said all of this, I must say that it was definitely less irritating than some of the conventional insecticides we had tried previously, some of which really made me cough (the diatomaceous earth did NOT). And it had no annoying perfume, which was one of the things that bothered me about the flea powder we had used on the carpet before. And I love that it's non-toxic; something I can't say for the other products I tried out of desperation. So all in all, I liked this product a lot, and I would definitely buy it again if I should ever need it.

Great deal for the cost
Nice big pack, clearly marked and box besides bag. Would’ve been even nicer in a vinyl bag to protect it from getting wet.
