Smooth surfaces. good points - among my favorites
I like these because they are so smooth and lightweight. Yarns slide easily without any catches. I find the points make it easy to get underneath stitches. Surface not as warm as wood, but definitely warmer than metal. I like the bling colors too. But, word of warning-- stitches can slide right off the needle if not paying attention. the trade off for the smoothness.

Work Well With A Variety Of Yarns
These needles are smooth enough that stitches slide off easily when you are knitting them onto the other needle, but not so slippery that they fall off before you are ready, regardless of the fiber that the yarn is spun from, whether your stitches are fairly tight or moderately loose. They are easy on my hands even with arthritis, and very light weight for their size. I have used them for a few years and they are my favorites. I also knit with wooden needles, steel needles, aluminum needles, and other plastic needles, because these do not come in very small and very large sizes, and as far as I know they do not make double pointed needles or circular needles out of this material. But these single point knitting needles are what I use with any type of yarn of the right yarn weight on any project that I can do on single point needles.

Easy on the Eyes
I have started knitting after a lapse of 20 years. I discovered that yarn and Great Danes do not mix well. Anyway I ordered these after looking at the various types of needles available. It was quite a change from what I used to use. They arrived quickly and at first I had difficulty with them because they felt strange to me. They are a bit slippery for someone who is trying to re-learn a craft after so long. Once I got used to them they were fine. They are very light and the colors make a nice contrast to the yarn so it is easy to see your stitches. I am sure I will like them even better once I get back in the rhythm again. They appear to be well made and I actually dropped one on a brick floor and it didn't break so they seem to be sturdy enough for someone who tends to be a bit clumsy...like most beginners...I count myself one after so long a time.

Great knitting needles.
I make scrubbies out of netting and have worn out metal and bamboo needles but not these. They are just perfect for making scrubbies and other knitted items. I liked mine so much I bought a set for a fellow knitter.

Susan Bates 15111 Crystalites Acrylic 10-Inch Knitting Needles useful addition to knitting supplies
I purchased the Susan Bates 15111 Crystalites Acrylic 10-Inch Knitting Needle Set for two reasons. I wanted to try shorter-length knitting needles to see if they were more comfortable to use when I knit up something small. Also, I wanted to try acrylic needles to see how they would perform when I use certain yarn weights (especially those less than worsted weight). I just purchased so I haven't used for a project yet except for casting on and knitting a couple of rows to start a scarf (a yarn blend of alpaca, linen and silk). So far, I like them. They are lightweight. They are a little pointy which comes in handy with certain yarns, I think. I like the length. I'm sure they would be good for a beginner knitter. The sizes in this set are U.S. 8, 9, 10 and 10 1/2. If these acrylic needles came in sizes such as 4, 5, 6 and 7, I would purchase. They were made in Mexico. The delivery went smoothly.

disappointed
I would not buy again. Needles are of poor quality and the points are terrible on your yarn. I would not recommend a beginner using this knitting needle set.

Love Susan bates Crochet hooks
Avid knitter, have a ka-zillion needles, Love Susan bates Crochet hooks!, They are a LOT better than all the others, ( Ive tried everything I can find over 30 years!...trust me,)These needles, are LIGHT, transparant and a nice shorter length., so dont catch easily. MAINLY they are SMOOTH AS SILK to knit with!, NOT slippery like metal, buy smooth and faster than Bamboo,,( my old favorite!) I WISH they made double points ! They are great!

Excellent Selection of Needles
I love the Crystalite needles. Nice to knit with: sturdy and comfortable. Careful about storing the needles. The needles are sturdy but not indestructible.

not as heavy as the metal ones, so easier on my hands, smooth surface and like that they come in a shorter length

Short, good for a beginner.
I got these based on another review saying they are short - I figured then they are perfect to teach a group of kids to knit with them. They are only big enough for that scarf or dishcloth project. I know what someone meant about the squeak though. The yarn does squeak a bit on them and doesn't slide as smoothly as on my other needles.
