It was easy to install
It was easy to install. The testing may require 2 people, one to monitor the equipment and the other to trip the vac-less anti-entrapment system. Overall, we have peace of mind that no one will be seriously harmed if they get too near the skimmer or main drain.

Made to break - but not totally recalled
There was a recall of certain serial numbers, not the product overall, but as of today the Vacless.com website is not up. However the mechanical construction of this device in my opinion is purposely weak - in short made to be broken - basically guaranteeing sales of additional units. When the pool technician was starting up our pool -this device was regarded as a joke because "they all break". The threaded nipple that goes in to the pump drain plug is so weak it breaks with simple hand tightening. For the ridiculous price of this - the body could easily be metal, there is no excuse for this design. Since the Pool has 2 other levels of anti entrapment devices I will not replace this device.

Not for pools with only skimmer supply lines - can malfunction
These were rushed out to meet new safety regulations to prevent children from being held next to bottom drains. They might make sense in a hot tub or a shallow pool. We just had our 20 by 40 ft outdoor pool renovated and the company doing the work felt they had to put one of these in as well to be compliant. Our bottom drain is 9 feet deep under the diving board and we never have children in the pool unattended. The bottom drain is for when the pool is drained, it is not part of the water supply (suction) side of the water circulation system. All our suction points (skimmers) are up at the water line. The installer put this SVRS in (Vacless Breather 1-ADJ) in the place of the drain plug on our new pump. Apparently, he then tried somehow to test this unit (requiring blocking the supply lines), which resulted in it doing its job and causing the pump to lose pressure. Unfortunately, we were out of town and he did not wait to prime the pump. So our new pump sucked air for 10 days and burned out. We are currently in litigation with the pool company. We travel a lot and cannot manage an option that creates trouble like this. What if leaves block our intake skimmers? We took it off and will not be using. Could always screw it back on if our pool is ever inspected for insurance or other reasons. Would recommend not having if you can get away without one of these -- put in a pool alarm and fence your pool if there are children nearby unattended..
