Good Power Handling Capability! Excellent Inverter for the Money!!
Original Aug 22, 2013 review:There are quite a few 300-600 watt pure sine wave inverters available on Amazon. I chose the Power Bright APS600-12 based on the number of excellent (4 and 5 star) Amazon reviews. Quite a few inverters (even other models from Power Bright) had a number of less than flattering reviews, many complaining about reliability, power handling, and fan noise.IMO this Power Bright APS600-12 inverter performs as advertised. Even under maximum load, the fans were quiet and never obnoxious. It's rated at 600 watts (5 amp) continuous, 650 watts (5.4 amps) for 20 minutes or less. I installed the APS600-12 in my toy hauler using two, 3 foot long 6 gauge cables, which were connected to a 24 series Marine/RV battery. Although I knew it was a stretch, I decided to test it by attempting to power my small, 650 watt (5.4 amp), coffee maker. Surprisingly, it successfully powered the coffee maker for the 3 or 4 minutes necessary to make 2 cups of coffee with no problem. The fan immediately kicked on and the heat sinks did get slightly warm to the touch--totally expected considering the load. It also powered my laptop (190 watts/1.6 amps) and a 42" flatscreen TV (300 watts/2.5 amps) at the same time with no issues. For those that may be interested, I measured 116 volts on the inverter's output with no load with my Fluke VM. Under full load (600-650 watts) voltage dropped slightly to 115.8 volts. As first impresssions go, I'm very pleased with this inverter. Only time will tell if it's a reliable unit. For the money, and for now, I think it's an excellent performer!29 Aug 2013 update: Successfully powered a Shop-Vac Hang-Up Mini wet/dry vacuum cleaner rated at 6.2 amps (744 watts) for short periods of time (less than 5 minutes).14 Sep 2013 Update: Be careful if you overload this inverter (over 650 watts). Apparently there's no a/c low voltage shutdown, warning, or beep. While powering a 6.2 amp load (this inverter is only rated for 5.4 amps for 20 min.) this inverter allowed the a/c output voltage to drop to 95-98 volts with no shutdown, warning, or beep. You would think the inverter would completely shutdown rather than allow low voltage like that on the output. Low voltage like this could seriously damage some devices. However, as long as you're careful to not exceed a 600-650 watt (5.0 - 5.4 amps) load, you shouldn't have this problem.Apr 30, 2014 update: In a previous update dated, Oct 20, 2013 (deleted), I commented about problems operating my iphones while charging when connected to the Power Bright inverter. Power Bright Customer Service sent me a comment (see below; click on "comments") suggesting I install a ground wire from the small terminal on the back of the unit to the frame on my travel trailer. Well, I finally got around to de-winterizing my travel trailer and installing the ground wire a few days ago. I'm happy to report the ground wire fixed the iphone charging problem. I can now charge my iphone, place calls, and use my apps, with no problems. Many thanks to Power Bright customer Service for their help and assistance. I changed my previous 3-star rating to 5 stars to reflect this latest update.

worked great for 6 months, then it just stopped working.
I bought this to be way too much for my needs. Was using it minimally. And one day, it just quit without warning.Fried after 6 months of minimal usage. Stired In a cool dry place. Monitored daily.

Works great seems solid no complaint.
Works great seems solid no complaint. When I got it I tested it on a 500W halogen work lamp. It took the load just fine, but the fan came on right away. Actually at first I was using jumper cables from a spiral gel cell, and the voltage under that load dropped low enough that a loud annoying high-pitched alarm went off. With better connection and 4ga cables that was not a problem. I later used it to power two powered PA speakers (rated at 1000 W each) and no matter how loud I cranked it I couldn't even get the fan to come on. Great value.

Quite nice, but get the extended warranty - and DO NOT BUY ANY INVERTER WITH AN AMAZON VISA CARD!!
I like this one a lot better than the other cheap pure sine inverters amazon sells, in particular I like the cable connections on this one far better than the hinky ones on the Sunforce 1000w model which I replaced with this one. This has done a great job in a little offgrid solar setup, and I strongly recommend it for that. But it just died after 2.5 years, so I wish I'd had the extra 2-year warranty that amazon now sells with it for $15. I'll be getting that when I re-order one... and yes, I'll be buying another one of these despite its failure. Nicest little pure sine inverter on Amazon I think, and at the $155 I'm paying today for a new one, a dang good price. You'll really notice the difference between a pure sine and a "modified" sine inverter when running any kind of motors. When you can get a clean pure sine wave for $155, why go cheaper? One BIG caveat about buying inverters from amazon using the "Amazon Visa" is that they're dishonest A-holes. I had TWO identical inverters from amazon previously (not the model I'm reviewing here) go bad in my little solar system right after the year warranty... that is, I bought two at once so I'd have one as a spare, and after the first one died at 13 months, the second died one month later after a month of service. No problem, think I, because I have the amazon visa extended warranty. HA! They denied BOTH extended warranty claims out of hand, saying that inverters are "car equipment" and that extended warranties don't cover things hooked to a car. Even though the inverters had been advertised as solar accessories right on the amazon page, and had never been near a car. So a 4-star thumbs up for this inverter - It was working on 5 stars until going ka-fluuey today - and a bug thumbs down for the dishonest double-dealing of Amazon Visa and their bogus claims department.Offered as a public service!

Nice units perform well for senstive electroincs loads
Works well, purchased 6 units so far. I like the fact that when batteries rundown and then batteries are charged when power comes back on we don not have to press a softswitch like many units in able to turn on.

Inverter
In "rate features" - I have no idea what they want in "Warmth", "Thickness" or "Sheerness"! Yes it's warm when it runs, not too thick when you pick it up and ?sheerness? - no idea! It runs as designed, powering small items such as bar fridge.
