Asvine Fountain Pen Ink Cartridges Black Color, Set of 30 Refill Ink Cartridges, 3.4 mm Bore Diameter

I ordered this ink to go with my new Hong Dian Silver Birch Forest pen. Both items are new to me, but fountain pens and their inks are not. I have a number of pens including Sailor, Waterman, Pelikan, Cross, Parker, Papermate (this Papermate was done by Montblanc, and one of my favorites!). I even have an old original Panache calligraphy pen from England. Needless to say I have and am using many of the pens' makers own brand of inks; I even have a nice red Montblanc I find to be nice in more than one pen. Right now my favorite is "Oxblood" by Diamine. So, how does this Asvine black compare to say the Sailor "Jentle" black (the original formula, not the current black) or the very nice blacks that Cross, Waterman and Parker offer? Actually it stands up quite well on its own. Is it their equal? Well I think since every individual is just that, an individual with like tastes and esthetics, I can only answer that I find it writes very smoothly, without puddling, dryness, scratchiness or saturating any of my different writing papers. It has only been used in my Hong Dian pen, but I only bought cartridges until I could determine if the ink would be worth ordering a bulk bottle. The "feed" on the Hong Dian is a different size from all of my other pens, consequently the purchase of the cartridges to start out. But so far I could see buying in bulk as I love the pen and I think the ink is very good and a great value. Whether I would like it in any of my other pens I couldn't say yet, but I think it's a possibility. It doesn't have the lubricity of Sailor "Jentle" or the "presence" of Diamine "Oxblood", but I think it does provide a handsome line of script and it has not failed to start once or dried out in my pen. Granted I use my pens daily and that's an important consideration. The pens themselves are also an important part of the equation. Regardless, if you're looking for an inexpensive black ink I think it's worth a try in any pen, and the way it lays down on paper I think it's going to be a very versatile and useful addition to my collection, Just don't plan on using these cartridges in pens that don't use the 3.4 mm Asian standard. In that case buy a bottle and fill your own!

My review for these ink cartridges is absolutely 5/5 you get so much ink for such a great price. The ink immediately flows and prints very smoothly from a Asvine fountain pen, it also dries quickly with very little smudges, it looks great. I’m gonna buy it again to be stocked up, $9.99 for this is amazing.

As much as I like using different inks and using a converter, I have a few pocket sized pens that either don’t take converters or that do but barely hold any ink. So I wanted to get some cartridges just for every day use. I reserve my nicer inks for when I actually sit down at my home to write to journal to take notes. These work great as they’re inexpensive and they fit the pens that I have just fine and replacing them is a breeze. The ink is just fine for every day notetaking when you’re on the go. It’s nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done and the price is very reasonable for what you get.

Not good for universal fit, so not compatible with most pens. Check your pen shuttle size. Only fits 3.4mm fountain pen shuttles and not for use in the universal fit type. Would likely be good for proper fit. Had to use the needle method to extract the ink to fit my universal pens. Ink flows well otherwise and has good pigmentation. Not versatile. Only fits one size. Ink was smooth but it dried too fast for my liking and therefore was not easy to transport to a universal fit refillable cartridge because it dried out as I was injecting it into the cartridge.

My pen used black ink previously, so the yellow mixed with that and became light green for one cartridge worth of ink. After that is became dark yellow, almost brown, and gradually lightened over time as the remnants of the black ink left the pen. That isn't the ink's fault, just something to think about. Overall this is good ink that flows well and fits the 3.4mm fitting snugly.

I love the dark green color. Purchased out of curiosity because I have a couple of cartridges that look similar to this one. They arrived with another purchase and I immediately sized them up with the other cartridges. There's one that came with my Dollar Tree calligraphy pen and another that's designed for the Zebra Steele V301. There is a size difference with the Hong Dian being slightly shorter and slightly slimmer. So I removed the installed cartridge from the DT pen and went to install this one. It fit exceptionally well. But since I did this in a hurry, I had to do a lot of writing to get the Rose Cyclamen ink to transition to the Dark Green Ink. The ink flows smoothly thru the EF nib that's on the pen. I've written on budget-friendly paper, fountain pen friendly paper, index cards, sticky notes and heavyweight paper. The color came thru each time. I've added this cartridge/ink to my Pen and Refill Types log for the Calligraphy Pen; it's #5 on the list. Even though the ink isn't waterproof, it does have an interesting appearance when wet. The effect will differ slightly when using alcohol (used hand sanitizer spray) or water. So if you're an artist, hobbyist or ink experimenter this will make for an interesting project.

I am just learning to use a fountain pen so not sure what to expect or look for. It's a pretty true black and flows really smoothly. Im having no regrets and no desire to try a more expensive ink , except maybe the same brand in a blue. I got a good amount of cartridges for the price. Definitely would recommend.

I bought these cartridges to use with my Hong Dian M2 fountain pen. Used a green cartridge first without problems. But when I wanted to use a light blue cartridge it would not click into the pen. I compared all the cartridge colours and discovered that the tops of the blue and light blue cartridges are different! The shape of the top is clearly different and there is a very slight difference in the height of the cartridges as well. This is clearly visible in the pictures. Obviously there was a problem with the production process. My pen came with a converter and I can transfer the ink, but I should not have to with cartridges that are meant to fit this specific brand and model pen. I won't buy them again.
