This book starts, as most Chinese martial arts etxt books do, with long winded expositions of how great the authors are. It also provides some historical background and, as always in Chinese martial arts textbooks, it claims to be the source of all superficially similar arts in other Asian nations. The techniques are interesting but there is nothing that will be new to a Judo or Jiu Jitsu practitioner. The ground fighting section was of particular interest to me but is quite basic to a BJJ person and some of the positions shown will leave one wide open to easy counters if they are tried on an experieinced grappler. Several of the throws and takedowns will not work on a wrestler or BJJ person as they are shown with a step forward from the rear leg instead of a shoot in off the front leg. Easy to see them coming, the attacker is too far out. A simple sprawl will thwart most attacks done this way. Overall, it's an enjoyable book and for those training in a grappling art, will provide some ideas about slightly different applications of techniques they will already know. I do exercising with Wusu Sanda. And this book fits perfect for wrestling/grappling Wushu Sanda needs. Book contains many techniques that works not only on the mats (sport) but also for self-defense purposes. I have been attended couple of Wushu Sanda seminars and all the takedown, wrestling techniques in those seminars just one by one corresponds to techniques given in this book. I suggest to have it and especially to those guys who does training in such a sport like Wushu Sanda.!Concerning drills for individual exercising given in this book. There are not so many of them just basic ones moreover all of them are suitable for training and gives very good outcomes in application of these techniques.So, this book is very good, actually, I would say even excellent addition to skills and knowledge gained in Wushu Sanda trainings.Pictures are very well and explanations, comments are clear. If something is not unclear just take Your time and read over again.
