Outstanding Rolling Duffle
We have used many rolling duffles over the years. We find them useful for extended trips. I bought this one by Timberland for my wife a number of years ago. It is the very best we have run across. It is the right size for an extended trip, has excellent balance and is easy for my wife to handle. It has distinguishing quality both inside and outside and has proven over time to be durable. My only regret is that I did not buy two when I had the chance since they are now out of production and I am now looking for a replacement rolling duffle for myself. Unfortunately, Timberland has discontinued their very well made rolling duffles. Very disappointing Timberland!

UPDATE - almost 5 years later
2017 August update; Updating my review, simply out of gratitude to the best piece of luggage I have ever owned. In fact, it is so good that I am writing a second review although I very rarely write reviews. I have lived in 5 different countries and visited many more, so I have some experience. This piece fits so much more than its size, AND I can rest assured that when packed to the brink I am still within standard weight restrictions of most, if not all, airlines. I know myself well enough to know that if my luggage is bigger I will fill it with more stuff and go over weight restrictions. This piece of luggage that I bought in 2013 is still functioning perfectly. It is showing some wear, but nothing that hinders me from using it again, and again. If anything I am stressing over whether to buy another one for the future now, just in case the day comes when it is no longer being manufactured... I sincerely could not recommend a product more. 2013; A truly great piece of luggage. It is sturdy, strong, very well made. I love that it has two main compartments as opposed to one, it makes for easier, more practical and organized packing. It rolls easily, and it is good looking! I highly recommend this brand and this particular piece. I travel quite a lot, I bought it in 2013 so it has some signs of wear but nothing unexpected. I never leave reviews but I felt like I had to on this one since I've been so pleased with it in every way. Good luck!

Nice huge bag, not for daily air travel
Nice bag at a great value, although it did not work for my needs due to the size and shape one of my friends purchased it from me. retail sticker was on the factory labels and the unit retails for 350.00 I paid 75.00 for it because it was a return because the box was damaged but the bag was in perfect condition. This bag will not make it as a carry on bag, has many little compartments on the bag lid, and opens from the top like a gym bag when laid down, the wheels are coated in a hard rubber so they do not make that annoying ticking sound as you pull it over tile, the handle folds down inside a zippered flap when it is not needed and can be carried like a gym bag. It has a hard plastic base (as you see what is the bottom in the photo) to support the contents and wheels, the bottom corners by the wheels have hard plastic corner protectors. Overall nice bag, can't exactly say how long it would last considering how horrible they are treated by the airlines. I imagine a few air trips a year this thing would last a while, as for people that travel daily I imagine it would get ruined quickly.

Very good bag
Time will tell but so far (one trip) it's held up perfectly. Quality seems very good. Heavy materials and stitching. Took a 12 day trip and it held more clothes than I used. Very large and cavernous. Too big to carry on the plane but no problems as a checked bag. You can put a padlock on the main compartment's zipper if desired. The non-black color makes it easier to spot on the luggage carousel among all the other bags. Only ding, and it's a minor one, is that the velcro that holds the two straps together is too small to do the job and the come apart. Doesn't effect the bag opening or anything, just an annoyance. I'd purchase this again.

Did a great job for 20 days in Alaska - work great with eBags packing cubes!
I can't say enough good things about this luggage. We bought two of the 32 inch and two of the 28 inch duffles to take our family of 4 (mom, dad, two boys 12 and 14) through 20 days in Alaska; we needed everything from formal clothes for cruise dinners to full hiking gear for glacier walking. The bags were checked onto four plane flights, two bus rides, one train trip, and stuffed in the back of a rental car for a week, and they still look like new. Everywhere we took them (into and out of hotels and transportation, waiting at check-ins, transversing concourses), I just kept being in awe of how incredibly easy they were to deal with, from handles in all the right places to standing up perfectly every time we stopped for a moment. We especially liked the fact that it was super easy to put an overstuffed backpack on each of them as we were rolling them along; because of shape of the end and the length of the handle, the backpacks rode very nicely. They were also super easy to deal with because they fit the eBags brand of packing cubes perfectly. The 32 inch duffle could take a stack of three large-size cubes and a stack of three medium-size cubes with little wasted space; the 28 inch duffle could take either a stack of two large-size cubes and a stack of two small-size cubes with room for a thin layer across the top, or two stacks of two or three medium cubes with a small cube on it's edge at the end. We shifted things around at one point and found that if we put a stack of 2 large cubes in the 28 inch duffle, either dress shoes or hiking shoes (including size 13) fit nicely in the remaining space. Another great thing about these bags is that I came way under on weight; with every suitcase we have ever had, I have always been at 49.5 or 50 lbs, but even the 32 inch duffle fully stuffed came in at only 45 lbs. I should mention that I filled these duffles pretty full, and I was careful to squish the bag and pull the seams together with my fingers before running the zipper, so as to not stress the zipper.

Great sturdy duffel suitcase
I purchased this several years ago and am now purchasing one for my daughter to use as well. This bag is the perfect size for one person - lifts easily and rolls easily. I have used it to travel overseas solo, family trips here the states, and everywhere in between. If you are an agile traveler who likes to be fairly light on your feet but still have a manageable suitcase, this is a great bag. It has been on a lot of cobblestone streets, city puddles, subways, trains, and airplanes and is still holding up like a champ. Too big for carry-on, but the perfect size for a size up without feeling like you're packing a steamer trunk.

This is a ginormous hauler.
If you need to carry the max checked size for Delta and other airlines this is it. The measurements are actually 30" (31" including wheels and feet) by 17" wide, by about 14" deep. The 11.5" in the description doesn't even get you to the first seam. It is closer to 12". Even unpacked though, the front pockets bulge out to about 14" overall. Flatter pieces will carry less even if the dimensions add up to 59" to 62". like this (do the math). Speaking of dimensions, this is technically to long for an Amtrak carry-on which limits you to 28"--but they tend to be lenient. You could easily go over the 50# limit with one of these so weigh your packed case. It's not as sturdy as I expected but then that contributes to the light weight. It only weighs a pound more than my Delsey carry-on. The sides are just fabric whereas the back, top and bottom are reinforced with plastic sheeting. It worries me a little that there is handle on one of those cloth sides (it is reinforced). The main thing I didn't like was that the zipper tends to catch a bit where the two frame wires intersect the zipper at the top. I bent the wire down a little with a pair of pliers and it's pretty good now. I'll keep it as I didn't get to see it until after the return window. I had it shipped to my home in the MW by mistake while I was wintering in ME. The narrow, deep design lets it hold more and helps with maneuvering tight places, but it also makes for a very deep dark hole when you are trying to find something. The inside is a dark silver. Orange like Ebags products would be better. The handle seems sturdy and only needs to extends a short way since the case is already quite high, so it is unlikely to break. I'm replacing a cheap duffle that broke, when my wife fell down the stairs with it. It was full of books--She is fine-- the handle isn't. Check out the High Sierra Elevate 28" if you want something Amtrak legal and less money. I've been impressed with HS. I would have gotten it if I knew I was gong be taking the train more. I'm getting tired of being 7 miles up in the sky. I've pointed out all the flaws for you, but I'm not unhappy with this bag. I love that it comes with a laundry/shoe bag. The styling is also great for someone who likes to project an Indian Jones image like me. I has more of an expedition feel to it.

Really well-made and well thought-out
I bought this piece of luggage for my husband to take on vacation. I was looking for something long enough to stick his tennis rackets in so he could check them, but not so big it would tip us over into scary-overcharge land. This was great. It has two distinctive halves so it's easy to organize. It's soft-sided and quite light, but it has enough structure not to bulge if not packed carefully. This sounds like a silly detail, but we really appreciated the two extra handles- one on top, one on the long side, and two in front. This meant it was real easy to grab when loading into a car, etc. It rolled well and didn't tip forward when standing vertical (this is a roller, not a spinner, so it tips backward when it's being wheeled). They call it a wheeled duffel, but I would call it a suitcase because it's not just one giant bag inside. Meanwhile, I was stuck with our old rolling duffel, which bulges, tips over and is a pain to move. Next year, we're getting another of these!

Very Sturdy and easy to travel with!
A sturdy little luggage that I was able to stuff quite full for my travels and it held up quite nicely. Didn't fall over and also very light.

Great quality.
Quality luggage. On a recent vacation to Ireland, my wife's suitcase was damaged and she bought a Timberland duffel from a Dublin store. I was impressed and tried to find a matching one on Amazon. This one is not an exact match but same colours and very similar. Hasn't been used yet but looking forward to the first time travelling with it.

Excellent.
Most important attributes I was looking for in a bag were: light weight, stands on its own, wheels, comfortable handle, internal straps to hold all my gear. This bag hits all of these, plus the fabric seems durable as well. The wheels are a bit "tucked in" so less of a chance of them being damaged at the airport (another concern I had). Its a great size for a one week trip, but also can get more stuff into it, as I have 2 different destinations and climates I will be visiting. All in all, a great bag. We'll see how it handles the airport.
