Nice and easy, just be careful with your fingertips.
Bought this product to "fix" the hollow, echoey sound my car doors were making. The contents came in a brown box and was much heavier than I originally expected. Roughly 30-pounds. Inside the box were 9 sheets of the sound deadening material, each sheet being 36 square feet. The material was thick, yet easy to cut with a simple box cutter. I was easily able to cut through the material and backing with no trouble what so ever. Applying the deadening mat was even easier. Wipe the exposed metal with alcohol (or alcohol and water mixture), then remove the backing and apply. It's highly advised you purchase a wood roller. I attempted to push it flat and flush by hand. It wasn't long before I noticed LOTS of small but annoying cuts on my fingertips. Use the wood roller if you don't want mutilated fingertips. In short, I spent more time removing and cleaning the door than I did applying the deadening material. For my Subaru Legacy, 1 and a half sheets covered the entire driver side door. That includes the panel behind the door speaker as well as the panel holding the door speaker. I applied the deadening matter pretty thick, there wasn't much exposed metal when I was done. The end result sound of the door went from a very hollow metal sound to a VERY satisfying full door sound. It sounds like the door is one solid piece of metal. In terms of added weight, the door feels no heavier, eventhough it sounds like it weighs a ton when closing the door. The one thing I like is as you're flattening the mat, the black "glue" expands about 1/8-inch beyond the mat, letting you know that it's going to hold firm. In short, I'm very happy with the product. And for those wondering if you have to be a professional to apply this. As long as you can remove your car door interior panel (tutorials are easy to find on YouTube), you should be able to apply this with very little problem and have some good results. Again, PURCHASE A WOODEN ROLLER AND SAVE YOUR FINGERTIPS! Again, great product. As a first time installer of it, the job was easy and gave satisfying results.

Solid.
I had some custom door panels built for my car, and while they were being worked on realized the factory vapor barrier was in very poor shape. After some looking around, I decided to give this stuff a go - it gets favorable reviews from professionals against much more expensive products - like "90% as good as Dynamat for 50% of the price." Since I don't care so much about noise and was mostly trying to address missing vapor barrier, it seemed like a good fit for me. As I'd been driving around for a couple months with no trim on the doors, I really can't comment on how well this stuff does at sound deadening. The interior feels quieter than I remember, and the doors closing seems even more solid than it did before. But it's just how I feel, I don't really know. What I can comment on is that's very easy to work with. The diamond pattern gives you slack to deal with non-flat surfaces pretty easily, and helps you know when it's been properly rolled down. The foil layer is ultimately pretty thin, and I had no problem cutting with a sharp utility knife. The only installation issue I ran into is that in tight corners the rollers had a tendency to slice or mangle the foil, but after doing that twice I change my approach and had no further issues. I found with a light touch the mat could be placed and then removed, but once it's pressed down - even by hand - it's not readily coming off. I left my doors open with the mat applied for 5 or 6 hours to be sure it wasn't going to fall down, and it was very clear it was staying put. The 80 mil thickness seems like a good place to be - thick enough there is some mass there, but not too thick it'll interfere with trim going back on. Good choice there. Next day I can detect a *slight* smell from the rubber if I really try, but nothing I would describe as I problem and I am VERY committed to neutral smelling cars. I will log some miles with just the two doors done, but with quite a bit left over I will probably throw some in the rear quarter panels and the roof as well, then maybe I will have a sense of how it performs as a sound deadener. I've worked really hard to shed weight on this car so I'm hesitant to grow back even a few pounds in sound deadener.... but it's for science, right? UPDATE: Following good results with the doors, and having a substantial amount left over, I decided to apply this stuff to the doghouse cover of my older motorhome. The cover is just fiberglass and carpet, so there is a ton of engine noise and heat that makes it into the passenger compartment. I used a fair amount of the Noico, and sealed joints & unions with their "special" tape to ensure the rubber didn't get squeezed out or ooze onto the engine. 2000 miles later - including several passes over the Cascades - I can say that this stuff has dramatically cut down on noise, but also improved the heat situation. It's now possible to have a conversation at a reasonable volume while cruising down the freeway. These mountain passes are about worst case scenario for engine heat, and the Noico stayed put and there's no indication of problems - the picture is *post* drive. This isn't exactly analogous to a car since there's a 1' air gap between engine and cover and substantial air flow, it's still putting up with some pretty direct heat here. Cool!

Great value, big difference in quality of door speaker sound
Great value. I bought this as an more cost-effective alternative Dynamat. Came quickly, went on as described. I did front and rear doors of my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. It took me about 3X longer than I thought it would (that way with any project of mine it seems). The doors of my Tacoma sound like a BMW when they shut...very solid. I was surprised (pleasantly) at how much better the bass of my 4 door speakers (JL Audio) sounded...not more bass, but tighter and no longer had as many buzzes from door or door panel. I had about 2/3 of a sheet of the Noico left when finished. I would recommend this to a friend and I would purchase again. Tip 1: I DID use weatherstripping foam between the speaker and the door panel in the rear doors--NO buzzes. I ran out and didn't use the weatherstripping foam in the front doors and I have a buzz at higher volumes at certain bass frequencies. Plan to go back and fix that someday. Tip 2: I didn't use the Noico material behind the plastic panels in the rear driver's side where my 10" JL sub is located. Mistake. I now hear buzzes and rattles that I never noticed BEFORE I installed the Noico in the doors...no other changes. What that means to me is that these buzzes and rattles from the sub were always there, I just couldn't hear them as they were masked from similar sounds from the door speakers. Now that I have the Noico in the doors, I CAN hear them. I plan to go back and use the rest of the Noico to deaden those panels one Saturday morning soon I hope.

Excellent value for what it does
I bought this for a specific job. My wife decided that the driver's side door of our Kia Sorento was far too undamaged, and decided to run the car down one of those yellow, round, concrete barricades at the drive-through ATM. After the car came back from the body shop, I noticed a tremendous amount of wind noise when driving it on the highway-like the window was down a 1/2". I checked all the weatherstripping and door fitment-all good. I also noticed that when I closed the door, it had a hollow, tinny sound, like my old Chevette had. I figured that the body shop had failed to put the factory sound deadener back in, a white, fibrous material, kind of like furnace filter material. I took the door panel off, and it was, indeed, missing. I called the body shop, they apologized, it had been thrown away, they'd have to order another one, another day without the car, blah, blah, blah. I had experience with a competing product of the Noico stuff, and it was far more expensive, so I purchased the Noico product to replace the factory material. Now the door shuts like (I would imagine) a Bentley, like it's made of one solid piece of material. Honestly, the whole car is quieter from doing one door. I also applied it to the backside of my rear license plate, which always had a little bit of a rattle, which is gone as well. The wind noise is 95% gone. I think that because the factory material is fibrous, it sucked up wind noise. I'm going to put a piece of universal filter material in there and see how it goes. Despite still having a little wind noise after installing the Noico product, I'm still extremely happy with the overall results and the sheer amount of noise that is gone from the car, much of which I didn't really even notice until is was missing. Installation notes: 1) I purchased a cheap roller, mainly due to the small size needed for all the nooks I had to deal with. If you're using the product on a larger, smoother surface, spring for a better roller. I used to have a heavy rubber roller with a wood handle and heavy steel roller frame, which I miss dearly, look for one of those. The cheap, lightweight style makes it very difficult to compress the diamond-shaped impressions on the metal outer surface smooth, as the instructions direct you to do. 2) The instructions say the use of heat is optional. Use it-after sticking the product down and before you roll. Use a hair dryer or a heat gun (on low), you'll get significantly better results and the product will conform to oddly-shaped surfaces better. 3) The product cuts very easily and cleanly with with any average pair of scissors. 4) As you can see from the photos, I used metal tape on the seams and edges. I recommend this, as it keeps the roller from sticking to the butyl along the edge and will assure that the edges never lift-although the product is sticky enough that I doubt it would anyway. The first pic is everything cut and laid out, the second is the finished job. I used less than half of the box for this job, including what I used on the license plate.

Absolutely AMAZING Product!!!
I purchased both the outrageously expensive Hushmat butyl product directly from the Hushmat company, and, I purchased numerous boxes of the Noico butyl and foam products from Amazon. What shocked me to death, was, the Noico was actually a more superior product!! It had greater thickness, padding, and density compared to the Hushmat!! The only positive thing I noticed about the Hushmat, was, it genuinely had zero odor. However, the odor from the Noico disappeared after 48 hours. I have provided eight photographs of how I used these products on my entire 2008 Lincoln Town Car Signature L. I need to admit that this was a ridiculously INSANE amount of tiresome work, which literally forced me to take two entire weeks off from work in order to accomplish this project!! I have never been so intensely exhausted in my entire life!! This product actually resolved some pathetic problems I have experienced for years, which is a miracle for me. The front center console of the 2003-2011 Lincoln Town Car has always been known to make a ton of obnoxious squeaky noises. I completely and entirely dismantled it, and applied the Noico butyl on every possible square-centimeter you could possibly imagine. The result was astonishing!!! My front center console is now 100% genuinely SILENT!!! This is literally history-making!!! It also has a wonderfully heavy, solid, and padded feel to it now. It does not matter what movements I make with this center console; it is still 100% SILENT in every imaginable way!!! This is shocking!!! Also, part of the internal metal frame of the driver's seat of the 2003-2011 Lincoln Town Car has always been known to make some occasional obnoxious clicking/popping noises while driving. After applying the Noico butyl later to the interior sections of that frame, the seat is now 100% SILENT!!! I even removed the original low-quality foam gasket material that was used from the factory to seal the connections of the HVAC, and replaced them with the Noico foam product. It made the seals incredibly more reliable and tight!! The total reduction of noise in the entire car has absolutely reduced in such a way, that, I swear it literally feels and sounds like I am in a padded recording studio!!! I can hear myself and other people talk with zero effort, even to the point of needing to deliberately speak at a lower volume!!! And any audio recordings on the stereo sound like I am truly sitting in an extremely expensive high-end studio!!!

Works great, but know what you're getting
There are two general approaches when it comes to vibration dampener: either complete, 100% coverage of target areas, or partial coverage. Most people, particularly those with modest audio installs, will get awesome results with just partial coverage. It greatly reduces the vibration due to bass from the speakers and road noise. The idea is you form a patch work of dampener on your doors, trunk lid, and rear speaker deck (aka 'parcel shelf') so that vibrating surfaces are isolated. One thing to understand is this stuff is NOT sound blocker (nor is any kind of other brand of similar product). It will block a little bit of sound, but it's main job is to reduce vibration. Your door panel is a big, thin piece of metal, and when your speaker's bass or the road "interact" with it, it vibrates. That vibration is generating sound, like a really awful steal drum. Vibration dampener helps your car not be an extra "voice" in your music. But what it doesn't do is block the noise from that annoying motorcycle revving his engine next to you at the stop light. For that, you need sound blocking materials. This product does a great job but just understand what you're buying. This 18sqft package was enough to get the job done for me and I'm really happy with the results. In particular, it eliminated some terrible rattle in the rear speaker deck I've been putting up with for years which prevented me from turning up the bass even a little bit. The doors already had some factory dampening and sound blocking, so the results were more marginal there, but still, my door speakers have never sounded better. The bass is cleaner and tighter because it's not being "muddied" by rattles. Overall, I can push my sound to its limit and vibration never becomes a factor. This is a fun DIY project. The product is easy to work with, cuts easily with regular scissors and so far doesn't seem to melt or run as I've heard can be an issue with the peal and seal type stuff. When I was mid-install I had the rear deck cover off and the dampener was exposed all day to direct sun for two days. It was pretty much untouchable because it was so hot, but I saw no signs of melting or running. There's a slight smell during install but absolutely none a couple hours later. Speaking of the length of this project, it can be time consuming. I was familiar with how to remove my trim and it still took about 7 hours total to remove the trim, remove the existing speakers/mounts, clean the surfaces, apply the material and then put everything back. I didn't want to work in the mid-day sun so I did a couple hours a day in the evening and spread it across a few days, but during that time my car was in no shape to do anything but get me to and from work. Just understand this is no plug and play install that will be done in a couple hours.

Once again - Great Product
Have used this product in three fo my personal vehicles. Easy to work with and great sound deadening, not to mention heat barrier I found . Always arrived on time or early. Used the bigger sheets for bulk of floor to get your mojo happening. This smaller size works great for tight areas with a lot of curves .Use the back paper as a template will get you the to a nice fit ! After that corners and curves - you will feel like a Pro - which I am not , but wasted little.

Huge impact on noise and drive quality
Best thing i got for our car. We have an Aygo, and it sounded hollow when you drove it. Doors sound like an aluminium can when tapping it or opening/closing the doors. It is especially visible onve you pass the 30 mph on our British roads, really noisy and echos throughout the car. I have put this on the door, boot and wheel arches. And it is if you drive a completely different car. Ot took me about 4 hours to fit this to the car. You remove the door covers, cut the material to measurement, peel the paper sticker, place it in place and firmly press it on (i used a roller). Fast, easy and effective. These 4 hours I spent on fitting this to the car, was the best thing I did. The ride quality is completely different and provides really relaxing and quiet journey.
