How well could one manage it with 550 lbs of weight ?

The Super Mag Hauler will handle 550 lbs but on rough terrain or a steep side hill the wheels will eventually collapse. The best solution for that much weight would be to add another set of wheels in effect making it a dually. The company used to offer such a set years ago but I haven't seen it available for quite awhile. What you would need is a longer axle and another set of matching wheels. I've had my dually set up for over 20 years and it is still going strong. In fact, last season we hauled out 5 deer and 5 elk (all whole) throughout the season with the average retrieve being about 2 miles The most important thing to remember is to keep the wire spokes tight. If they get lose, and they will with use, then they will collapse and then you are packing the animal and the cart out on your back. Good Hunting. D.B. Cooper

How wide is the cart between the wheels? The wider the better because it won't tend to fall over.

It's about 24inch between the two wheels.

The tarp on my mag hauler is worn out....are replacements parts available?

I don't know, Amazon should contact the maker for their customers.

Can these be used hands free?

I use a carabiner to hook it to the back strap of my safety harness. It works great that way. Leaves both hands free and lets you pull through your whole body.
