Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Messenger Bag

Well-made. Lots of security options. Not the most stylish option, but definitely the most sturdy and secure. Plenty of storage compartments and places to keep your travel items. Highly recommend for travelers who need that extra sense of security.

Amazing. This purse is so comfortable and handy. You can carry everything you need and then some. I felt all my important things were protected. The water bottle holders only hold small bottle, but work well. Even full, it's comfortable to carry. Just the most perfect size.

I bought this for a trip to Europe where I was visiting a number of countries. Also, since I was flying with Ryanair at times, I needed a bag that fit their handbag/small purse requirements. This Travelon bag was almost the right size, cloth so it was 'squash able' if needed. It is a full year since I purchased the bag and I have used it continuously, much to my own surprise. I like: 1. the clips for keys... I got into the habit of clipping my keys to the bag and it has been wonderful. No searching for keys. Handy when parking, running to stores and back. The only downside is when one needs to move quietly. Then the keys need to go inside the bag. Other items could also be clipped to the bag. For instance, I clip my earbud container to the bag when on the road. 2. The zipped pocket at the back where credit cards can be stored. Plenty of room for cards, money and loose change. 3. Front flap pocket - great for carrying easily accessible extras. I am lactose intolerant and can carry digestive tablets there. I also carried my folded ticket printouts or passport there when traveling. 4. The main compartment has loads of room, handy pockets for phones, tissues etc. I even fit my iPad (2) in there when I need to. Also had plenty of room for passports, small snacks etc. when traveling. 5. The strap is long and easily adjustable. I find it comfortable. I usually wear it cross body. I used the inbuilt security feature whereby one can attach the bag to a chair (or other) when traveling, while sitting at street cafes and found that feature very useful. It is also long enough that I can keep on my shoulder and rest the bag in the trolley (seat) when shopping. 6. the expandable mesh sides: ok for a small water bottle when needed. And it does need to be a small (12oz) bottle. I rarely use it for that but do make use of the side pockets for other small items (sunglasses, tissues) I need to have handy. I usually keep the pockets zipped up. These side pockets are probably the feature I use least but they have potential. For instance, a small bottle of prescription meds or similar should fit there quite securely. All in all, it is a great bag. I had intended it only for travel but find it so practical that I am still using it daily. I had thought it may be too small for daily use but not so. The variety of pockets, clips and sturdy strap allow for various subtle expansion options and its inbuilt organizational capacity makes up for what might seem like a small size. You cannot fit a huge amount in there but I was never one for carrying a lot in my bags. iPad, phone (2 when in Europe), money, credit cards, protein bar, chewing gum, daily meds, tissues, passport and tickets all fit when I need. That is enough for me. The only downside is that it is perhaps not the most attractive bag. I used always have nice colored leather bags and a leather purse/money/card holder... that gives you an idea of my tastes. They have sat unused since I got this travelon bag. The black nylon cloth has held up well... it looks as good today as it did the day I bought it... and the organizational advantages to me of this bag far outweigh any minor discomfort I felt with its look. I recommend it highly. It really works for me.

This is an ideal bag for traveling, particularly in locations where pickpocketing and theft is a concern. It is well made and quite sturdy. The bag has three sections: One section has space for credit cards and bills and is large enough to handle a small coin purse. The middle section is surprisingly spacious- more than sufficient to handle travel documents. I have also fit 2 collapsible umbrellas and a water bottle in it at one time. A third section provides additional space for glasses, maps, etc. Each section has a zipper that can be latched onto a small ring, making it even more secure. There are two zipper pockets, one on each side of the bag, that are designed to hold water bottles. I found this a tight fit, although a 16 oz bottle of water can be squeezed in with some effort, as could a small collapsible umbrella. I found the spaces more handy for sunglasses and hand sanitizer and dropped the water bottle/umbrella into the middle section. In addition to RFID protection, the adjustable strap is reinforced, making it virtually impossible to be cut. While some reviewers have complained about comfort of the strap, I did not find it anymore uncomfortable than any other crossbody strap. It's all a matter of how much you are stuff into it. Even stuffed full, it is still remains a nice size when sightseeing. It's size also makes it easy to drop into a tote, backpack or other personal item when required to "consolidate" personal items when boarding a plane. It's not going to win any prizes for style, but in terms of size, functionality and security, the bag is one of the best I have come across for travel. Mine has now made two trips to Europe and one to South America and the Caribbean and it still looks brand new.

I had a navy blue on for many years and it is still looks perfect but the hardware stated to open a little and was catching my clothes. When I bought this, I thought it would be a litter bigger, but it is the same. I have had Travelon for many years. I like the style, the pockets, the metal hook inside that I use to hook my wallet. I like how it looks nice despite the age. I like the security features.

I bought three of the Travelon bags for Spain and Italy. The mini shoulder bag , the cross body bucket bag and this one the Classic messenger bag. The classic Messenger bag was the one I used for my everyday purse. It fit my one kindle wallet passport and all my personal items with room to buy small gifts . it was very practical and did not show any dirt. It isn't pretty but went with all my outfits. We did have two men try to pickpocket us in Barcelona, I'm sure those two thieves were very disappointed the second they realized my purse was not going to be a free lunch for them. These criminals are very smooth, and aggressive. If you want to feel protected while in high crime areas get this bag, be vigilant and keep it locked at all times and across you body. This bag like all security bags only works if it is locked and secured across you body. zippers are no problem for these thieves. It is the locks on this bag that make it such a outstanding product,this bag has three separate locks. It also has two small water bottle carriers that you unzip at the the side to expand for use, I found my self putting pamplets from museums in these water bottle spots so as not to have to fuss with the locks on my bag. The locks are a little bit of an inconvenience but taking the time to unlock and lock them is better then losing a passport, credit card or money. I used all three bags on my trip through Europe but this classic messenger bag had more locks on it then the other bag and it was a nice size not to big or to small I found I used this one the most the three locks are one on top one under the flap portion and one in back of the purse . I used every single lock and I also kept my valuables in the back portion of the purse it has pockets for Id money pen ect. The big ugly grey metal clasp unscrews and your bag can be locked to a chair. I did not use this feature but it is a nice safety feature but also you should check the screw portion before going out as if it is lose the bag could come unhooked and fall from your shoulder. I can not say enough good things about this bag sturdy and secure.

I purchased two bags for our 5 day trip to Washington, D.C - one for Mom & one for me. I was very excited to try it out after reading the reviews. We both used our bags for a week prior to the trip, to get use to them and do any adjustments that were needed. The most I wore mine at one time was for an hour and it felt fine. For the plane trip to DC (almost 9 hours from start to finish) the bag was great. It fit my wallet, kindle, and other odds and ends. I was amazed at how roomy it really is and how much could really fit inside it. The next 4 days went fast, we were with a school tour - we started our day on the bus at 7:45 am and ended at 10:00 pm. The first day I took everything out of the bag that I wouldn't need...so I only had my wallet, a small digital camera, chap stick and a 20 oz. bottle of water. Really not much at all. My mom did the same. After the first 4 hours of walking, the bag started to feel like a brick and was cutting into the top of my shoulder. I started to switch the bag from one side to the other. I noticed my mother was having the same problem. We ditched our water bottles on the tour bus and had lunch. At the end of the next 6 hours, I had both my mother's bag and mine. I was wearing one on each shoulder crisscrossing over me. The straps were very uncomfortable and cutting into my shoulders. By the end of the first day,14 hours later, I had pulled both straps over my shoulders so that the straps were about halfway between my shoulder and elbow. That was the only way I could carry them. Putting them up on my shoulders was way to painful. That day we walked a total of 10 miles. The next 2 days I switched it all to a backpack - I had everything that was in my bag and moms plus the two 20 oz. waters and did just fine. We walked 10 to 15 miles each day. On the last day my mom and I switched back to the bag. The first 8 hours of touring and then to the plane ride home. We took our bags with us ONLY when we had to other wise we left them on the tour bus and carried our wallets and cameras. This worked but seamed to be a waste of the reason we got the bags to begin with. 4 years ago I carried my purse through Disneyland for 5 full days from 9 am to 10 pm. I carried my purse with all sorts of STUFF. I carried it over my shoulder and across my. I NEVER had this much shoulder pain. So I know it has to be the bag. My mother has gone back to using the bag for short runs to the store ( where she will not carry it for very long) and she is going to get a cushion shoulder strap to help as she can not return hers. I am going to try to return mine. I will never use it for another trip. I gave it a 3 because I love the anti-theft idea and the fact that you can't scan any cards through the bag. It is also a great bag if you do not intend to wear it for a long extended time. I will look for a travel backpack with the same features as I am sure that will be a lot more comfortable.

Bought this purse for a 2 week trip to Italy. It was perfect! Loved all the locks. Purse was large enough to carry all my items and a little cardigan 5to cover my shoulders. The bottle holders were a huge bonus! Highly recommend if you will be traveling and want piece of mind.
