Gambino Comes From Behind and Makes the Best Album of The Year
Childish Gambino has finally scored his first major outbreak. It was well worth the wait. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) has proved that he is not only a fantastic Comedian, and Actor (He plays Troy on the hit NBC Sitcom "Community"), but he has proved that he has potential to be one of the best rappers out there.1. Outside: 5/5 I was a little skeptical going into this album knowing how his first single, Bonfire, was so original an unique. But this song was re-assurance that this album was going to be something else. Or in other words, this song is just awesome.2. Firefly: 5/5 This is one of the happier songs on the album, nice hook. Gambino kills all the verses, which is expected. He's got a few funny lines here and there. Great song.3. Bonfire: 5/5 This song is unreal. Absolutely fire in all aspects (Pardon the Pun). He kills the verses, so much in fact that he doesn't really need a big fancy hook, though the hook is good, and it only shows up once. Absolutely awesome.4. All of The Shine: 5/5 This is one of my favorite tracks on the album without a doubt. The beat is crazy good, and the strings in the background give it an epic feel to it that compliments Gambino very well.5. Letter Home: N/A Just an interlude6. Heartbeat: 5/5 Probably the best hook on the album right here. I absolutely love the piano in this song. Great song overall.7. Backpackers: 5/5 This has a very dark feel to it. It's a great song and he kills the verses just like usual. Not the best on the album, but still great.8. L.E.S.: 4/5 This one kind of sounds lazy compared to the other tracks which is why it gets a four, but its still a good song in its own right. Probably one you'll skip more than the others.9. Hold You Down: 5/5 A great piano piece in this song seals the deal again with Glover's incredible flow. Another masterpiece.10. Kids (Keep Up): 5/5 Kind of a cheesy premise, with a boring and cheesy hook to start out with, but as the song progresses, it gets way good, as expected. This stands as one of my top 5 favorite songs on the album.11. You See Me: 3/5 I just couldn't get into this one. It's got my favorite line from any of the songs on the album with "Can I stay at your place? No Hobo" Its funny, and Donald goes way hard. But the beat is just lazy and they really could have done much better, and the chorus is just as lame as the beat. The only real slip-up on the album.12. Sunrise: 5/5 And we get back to perfection with Sunshine. I love the beat, a little bit faster than most of the other songs on the album. Another top 5 on the album. I love this song.13. That Power: 5/5 Its a good song that kind of overstays its welcome. With that being said, its still another freaking awesome track and a great way to wrap up the album.Must have Songs:Well I recommend downloading the entire album, but if you only want to get a few of the songs here then get:*Outside*Bonfire*All of the Shine*Heartbeat*Kids (Keep Up)*Sunrise*That PowerBut you should still get the entire album which is why it gets an incredible final score of: 9.5/10 (Tied for highest I have ever given out with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West.)

Much Love for Donald
I came to love Donald Glover through Community (as many probably did), and that only grew with watching Mystery Team and finding out he wrote for TDS. As a white middle-class girl (who watched her parents work her family out of poverty into success), no matter how much I love rap as a style and genre, it doesn't often speak to me. But Childish Gambino manages through lyrics that reach from his childhood and the work of his family, by cultural and social references. Including lots of pop culture references that will be very familiar to people who are fans of Donald from his acting."Freaks and Geeks" might always be my favorite, but "Camp" is a fantastic album. For me, "Fire fly" "That Power" and "Letter Home" are the real standouts. ... and "Outside", in which the story of his cousin is dead on for a lot of people I would think ... and "Bonfire".Okay, obviously I love the whole album, which isn't always the case. He does a great job attaching the theme to the album without making it completely a theme piece. And there's so much heart in his lyrics; he's possibly the most honest artist I've heard in music in quite a while. (Though I survive with fewer references to ** on his **'s faces.)As a before you buy warning: This album is labeled explicit for a reason. He's hardly the most pc person in the world. If you have problems with the occasional (or not so occasional) curse world ... maybe look to some other genre of music?? At least make sure you're getting the edited version.A listen to the samples (or a quick check of his youtube videos) should give you a good understanding of his style and sound and whether you like it or not. (And why wouldn't you?! Childish Gambino is awesome!)

An All-Time Classic Album No Fan of the Rap/Hip Hop Should Pass Up
Even as a huge fan of Rap/Hip Hop, I wasn't familiar with Childish Gambino until I heard that his music was in Far Cry 4. I checked out a few of his songs on YouTube and decided to buy both "Camp" and "Because The Internet". This album (Camp) is my favorite of the two. He combines melodic lined rhythms with great vocals and a sick flow. He can go from serious to joking on a dime, he has a good sense of humor and he is actually a very skilled wordsmith. I love this album. One of my all time favorites.Best Songs (My opinion, not in any order):All The ShineLESHeartbeatKidsYou See MeHold You DownBonfireOutsideAll of these songs are single worthy and I can listen to them on repeat. Great album. Buy it.

Best rap album of 2011, Pitchfork.com is either stupid or jealous
For anyone who likes Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", Gambino's "Camp" is a must have. This album is opulently produced, with a great variety of beats. Even better, Gambino (Donald Glover) delivers some of the most intelligent punchlines ever uttered by a rap artist while touching on some of the more difficult and emotional parts in his life.An example:Gambino drops perhaps his hottest line in the album's bonus track "Freaks and Geeks" when he says "I am runnin' this bitch/ You are just a dog walker."But the ending monologue on "That Power", in which Gambino discusses heartbreak and cynicism, should move anyone the same way that Kanye's "Blame Game" does the first time you hear it.This album was given an abysmal rating by Pitchfork.com (1.6 on a scale of 10), and I have two reactions: They are either entirely lacking in taste or they wish they could flow like Gambino. Regardless, while I did not read reviews on their website before because I didn't know about them, I will definitely not in the future - they aren't credible.

Not what I expected
I honestly thought this CD would be a comedy rap album. That was far from the truth. Childish Gambino is a serious rapper with serious talent. His intelligence and skill really shine through on this album. He is a very energetic rapper and really attacks each beat well. What was also very surprising was the production choices. All in all his production was very solid and entertaining. The opening and closing of the album I feel are the strongest parts. With heavy entertaining production both songs show his true skill. The final track with the combined story is a great finish and leaves you wanting more from CG. It is a story many people can relate to and appreciate how well it's told.CG is a far cry from most dope selling, ghetto driven rappers. That doesn't mean he can't match wits with most if not all. If you are looking for an intelligent, rapper with a skillful flow and great production I recommend.ProsProductionGreat opening and closing songsGreat FlowEnergyConsSome songs are redundantOverall subject matter kind of lacking

Lonely Island it's not!
I was expecting this album to be good after reading all of the stellar reviews on here, but I was floored by how good it is. I didn't even know the dude rapped! Yes he's an actor, but I dare say he is in the upper echelon of rappers out today. To be a good rapper I believe you need to have a few things. First off, you need to be clever and have a good sense of humor, and not take yourself too seriously. You also need to have flow and an appealing, distinctive, pleasing voice. Beats obviously. To say this album has all three is an understatement. This is one of those albums that you need to listen to three or four times before you fully appreciate it. Similar to a Tarantino movie, every time you watch it you notice something new that is just brilliant. I also appreciate the guy's honesty. Some rappers are so scared to be seen as less than 100% cocky and confident, that they can't allow themselves to be honest and admit to their issues. I believe this is the era of elite lyricists. Drake and J. Cole are two names that come to mind. (And if you love hip-hop you need to pick up both of their current albums right now). Gone are the days of idiotic lyrics, screamed over and over, with no cleverness at all. (I hope so anyway). (And I'm looking at you Lil Jon);) I hope I'm making myself clear that I love, love, love this album, and I can't wait to hear more from him. Basically, he made the beat and then he killed it... Casey Anthony. ;)
