Best head collar, without a doubt.
***This is a long, detailed review based on my experiences with head collars and my large breed dog.***I have a 105 lb. malamute that likes to get in touch with is "ancestral side" and pull. He doesn't chase anything, he just likes pulling. I have tried harnesses (as suggested to me by his breeder), but it made him pull even more. I then discovered head collars! I have tried three: The Gentle Leader, Halti, and Walk n' Train by Coastal Pets. I'll list some pro's and con's based of my dog and explain why I prefer the Halti over the other two. Lastly, I'll give a little suggestion for those who want to start using head collars.___________________________________________Dog info:105 lb. malamute, red and whiteLonger than normal muzzle for malamutes (very wolfish)Gentle Leader (GL):Pros:*incredible control; nearly instant control of your dog*several colors so you can match your dog's fur*not easily confused as a muzzleCons:*following the instructions with the GL can restrict your dog's breathing and cause them to constantly have the head cocked in a downward position*can rub off the fur below the eyes (I noticed this and stopped using it right away) and sometimes ride into the eyes*for dogs with long muzzles (such as mine) the sizes can be awkward and never fully comfortable for them*my dog freaks out when it is on his head no matter with all the training I've given him (the GL was the first head collar I used with him, so trained him with it for about 6-7 mo.)Halti:Pros:*as much control as the GL, but MUCH gentler than the "Gentle" Leader*the loose fit helps the dog adjust a bit better, my dog didn't buck around*they are free to move their head around and can breathe, pant, eat, drink, and play MUCH better due to the lack of a clasp on the nose strip*nose strip has a cushion that DOES help regarding the rubbing issueCons:*constantly confused as a muzzle (in black)*if not used properly, it can ride up into the dog's eyesWalk n' Train:Pros & Cons:*Basically the same as the Halti, the general form of the collar is the same for each. The Walk n' Train has the clasp that the GL has, but puts it on the Halti.*I didn't like this one purely because that clasp (if done like the instructions) turned it into a bulky GL_______________________________________________I currently have the Halti in black and I love it. I bounced back and forth between the GL and Halti during my dog's growth. He always fit the Halti better due to his long muzzle, but I couldn't figure out why the Halti kept riding up into his eyes so I stopped. However, after using the GL for several months I found the old Halti and slapped it on. He immediately took to it better than the GL and I noticed that the Halti stopped riding up. But the major thing I noticed was that it was EASIER and more EFFICIENT to control him with the Halti. Why? I had experience with head collars. If you are new to the concept of head collars getting the GL might be more beneficial just so you get to understand how they work. Head collars never need more than a slight pressure pulling up to make your dog sit and calm him down. The GL does come with a great instructional DVD, while the Halti does not. Due to the Halti's loose fit it may freak some owners out and scream "It's going into his eye!" and quit as I did previously. DON'T. All that means is that YOU as the handler jerked the Halti to hard and fast. The only time that is needed is if your dog is lunging (which is hard to do even with a head collar). A gentle pull up will make his rump plop down. So, if you want to have your dog comfortable with is his head collar, have a head collar that is extremely effective buy a Halti and watch the video on the GL about how to use a head collar. Doing that will ensure a great walking experience. My ONLY gripe is that everyone thinks my dog is viscous because the Halti looks like a muzzle. It bothers me slightly so I am getting a different color. But in retrospect, you may want that so suspicious looking people leave you alone and possible muggers will bugger off. Sounds odd, but it has honestly helped me in some situations. You can wean your dog off of using the Halti if you want, so that you can just use a regular collar. But, I always use mine primarily because I am not a very tall woman and I have a big dog. It gives me that much more control of him (my boyfriend and dad can't control him and they are both 6').***This is a great way to control an arctic dog. They have the natural instinct to pull and this negates it and helps establish that ever battle of alpha with him.TLDR; Best head collar I have ever tried. Watch the GL video on the Premier site to learn how to properly use the head collar. Go for a walk and enjoy!

Love it!
The Halti dog head collar is AWESOME!! I have a 75lb Lab, and the size 3 fit perfectly. We were using the Gentle Leader head collar, but she still pulled, the buckles were no good, and the straps were so narrow that they dug in if used too long. The Halti is shaped more like a horse halter, the nose band is wider so she pays more attention to it, and the chin strap works like a martingale collar… doesn’t tighten until she pulls. It was the most peaceful walk we’ve ever had.

game changer for training
The media could not be loaded. I love this training tool! It has worked wonders on my dog. I was using a Herm springer and that wasn’t cutting it(yes I know how to use it) because she gets too worked up and pulls anyways. I use this, an e-collar, another leash around my waist attached to her harness in case she lunges. I am extra careful because I don’t want her hurting her spine or neck on accident. It is so much easier to control her and communicate. She seems calmer on walks and training at Lowe’s. She is stranger reactive and does not like random people approaching us. This tool makes it so easy to redirect her and maintain control. She doesn’t pull anymore which is awesome. She checks in with me more when we use this. I’ve had people ask why she’s muzzled which I guess people don’t understand how a muzzle works considering she can clearly still open her mouth and her entire mouth is exposed but I guess if it keeps random people from sticking their hands in her face I’m all for it. The padding on it seems comfortable to her, she is muzzle trained already so her adjusting to it took about 2 minutes, she tried to scratch it off a couple times the first time she wore it but hasn’t tried since then. Every dog is different but I would give it a shot!!

Works great for 60lb dog
This product has been put through a lot of use so far and is currently holding up well. I like that this has the clip to attach to a collar unlike the gentle leader version. I do with the part that attaches to the collar was a little shorter or adjustable though. Sizing was relatively simple. Ordered the size that we thought would fit best based on measurements but it ended up being a little tight in the jaw area so we exchanged for a size up. Have not really tested out the reflectivity, but it is not a very large area and with a very hairy dog not sure how effective it will be

I’ve tried many - this one’s the best.
I’ve tried 5 different brand harnesses on my nearly 100lb dog who pulls like an ox. The gentle leader is overrated. It’s too thin and when the dog pulls hard it’s puts lots of pressure on the eye. Not only that, the dog can paw off the gentle leader and it has two points of adjustment to fidget with. Halti has a better designed harnesses. There’s more support and material to keep it straighter on the muzzle. The quality of the harness is also very good. It’s very easy to adjust the neck strap. I let my dog paw on this one bc I knew he wouldn’t get it off and now he’s given up and accepts it as part of the dog walk, lol. It has a thick cushion and given how much he pulls I appreciate that. I’ve tried other lesser known brands and they’ve ripped. This harness works better than a prong collar - when he pulls it turns his head back towards me which breaks his fixation. The other important feature of this harness is that it allows the dog to pant, which is important for bigger dogs who can overheat. I followed the measurement chart and it fit my dog perfectly. I’m very happy to have this harness and hope this company gets more attention because referring to muzzle harnesses as “gentle leaders” wasted some of my time and money and patience.

Love it!
The Halti arrived today so I put it on my 3 year old australian sheperd and we went for a walk! Absolutely amazing!! Zero pulls the entire walk! He definately isn't a fan of it but I'm sure he will get used to it. Probably the best walk he has ever had! He even ignored the birds we walked by and he usually tries to pull towards them. Very happy with this purchase and will likely purchase another for my husky!
