I have stopped using our other slow cooker cookbooks, which are either too bland or unreliable in the cooking times, and should probably just give them away! We make small adjustments for our taste, to add a bit more of the seasoning/spices or leave out an ingredient we don't like, but as written they are usually good to great. Some of our favorite go-to's include Slow Cooked Mac n' Cheese (p. 210), French Beef Stew (p. 201), Pizza in a Pot (p. 171), Spaghetti Sauce (p. 171), Chipotle Beef Sandwiches (p.39) and Lime Chicken Tacos (p. 135). All are hits with our kids ages 9-16 which is where the "go-to" part comes in.-----------We had picked up a couple of Taste of Home slow cooker magazines at the checkout through the years, and the recipes always turned out great. So I was excited to find this much bigger set of recipes on Amazon. We have made a handful of recipes from it already and they have been terrific. We have tried a lot of other slow cooker cookbooks in the past, and the recipes don't consistently turn out well (overcooked, dry, etc.) or they just aren't to our taste (usually too bland). So finding a reliable one is a big deal. There are sections of recipes for beef, pork, poultry, etc., plus a couple of sections of other types like side dishes, desserts, etc. My only wish is that they would have consistency in the slow cooker size in the recipes; some are for 3 qt, some 5 qt, etc. so you need to be careful and adjust based on the size of your slow cooker. Also, there isn't any nutritional information - but a lot of recipes look to be healthy and decently low in fat. Only a few call for condensed soup. ;) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good recipes - easily adapted *by S***T on Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2014* I went thru the whole book picking and marking the recipes I knew sounded like something I would like. I was impressed with the ease of most of them - and I quickly realized after trying a couple of the recipes that they could be easily tweaked to mimic dishes I have made before - the long way. On the stove top - stirring and trying to avoid burning and sticking to the pot. I love that about the slow cooker - I can leave it alone - don't have to stay home or stay close in order to keep stirring sauces, etc. This is a very basic book that has a lot of tasty dishes. I will continue my way through the book - I make notations right on the recipes if I change or think something should be changed for taste.
