are the 9x12" bags 9x12" exactly or is there a little extra room? I need to fit a 3/16 backing board and my art inside.

Damn close to exactly. I had to buy the 11x14" version to fit my 9.5x11.5" Pastelmat.

Are you able to use these to display art?

I don't know what you mean about using them to display art. They are very thin bags/packets and would not take the place of glass. They are similar to business plastic paper protectors, but much thinner. I use them to protect any pastels that I have not framed.

I must assume that since it does not speciifically state that this product is acid free, that it is not. I will say, however, that I have used these for years, both to protect my artwork and to either deliver or ship completed work for clients, and I have been completely happy with Krystal Seal.

Are they acid-free and safe for use with plastic figures? I need something that for long-term storage.

These are archival quality and crystal clear. They are made of 2 mil Polypropylene for art, print and photos. Although archival quality, their materials does not say "acid free."
