The easiest way to clean carafes and go cups is to buy the blue liquid cleaner (Umex is one of the brands sold on Amazon). It's readily available and more economical from a restaurant supply Co. Squirt a little in the container, add a little water, put the lid on and swish it around. Pour it out though the lid to clean that too then rinse well. Works amazing well.

Has anyone tried a glass Hario filter cone with this? Wondering if it would be alright sitting on the top.

I make pour-over coffee right in the thermos pot. I use a Melitta porcelain cone and no. 4 filter. It fits right over it. Holds about a litre.
