It has an initial 84-page section titled High-Yield Facts which gives a concise review of embryology, histology and cell biology, tissues such as epithelium, connective tissue, muscle, and nerve, followed by a brief discussion of the histology and function of the organ systems. Following this is a brief review of the anatomy of the body. The remainder of the book (633 pages total) consists of a well-organized set of 500 board-type exam questions on embryology, cell biology and Histology, and anatomy. Following each set of questions, there is a detailed explanation of the correct answer for each question, and in many cases an explanation as well of the wrong answers for the question. The questions are in general more clinically-oriented than some other review books on cell biology and histology. As such, this book provides a strong resource for review and study of anatomy, embryology, and cell biology and histology prior to the student taking the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Exams. The extensive clinical scenarios used for the questions also can provide an introduction to the type of clinically-oriented questions which can also occur on the Cell Biology and Histology Subject Exam. The strong point of this book is the extensive bank of questions and the detailed explanation of the correct and non-correct answers for the questions. The questions and the answers are at a difficulty level similar to the USMLE Step 1 Exam and thus provides a good review for that exam. Recommended for USMLE Step 1 Exam in particular.
