We received this ice maker from Amazon 2-3 weeks ago and loved it right off the bat. But I thought I should use it for a while before I write a review. For starters, let me apply some context. We have had, over the years, at least 4 of the countertop ice makers in the $100-$150 range. They all seem to last between 1 ½ to 2 years. For the last two we went ahead and purchased the extended warranty (something we almost never do). So when they died the insurance company would just send us a check for the purchase price because they aren’t worth fixing. This time we decided to spend more to try to get something of higher quality that would last. I can’t report on whether it will last or not, but I can tell you we love this ice maker.First, the ice: The ice is far superior. It has clear, actual cubes instead of the bullet shapes. Not only are they more attractive but they melt a lot slower. As for using the machine, it’s very simple. It takes longer per cycle but each batch is larger. Our old ice maker had to be turned on every morning and run until bed time to keep up. And even then some days it couldn’t keep up with demand. (Our household has 3-4 adults, depending on the day.) This one really cranks out the ice. I can turn it on in the morning and then, as long as I harvest the ice when the holder is full, I can turn it off mid-afternoon and have a bag full of ice that’s enough to last us 2 days. So the ice maker is running a lot less time. I’m sure the constant use of the less expensive models contributed to their wearing out. So bottom line if you can afford the Sentern Portable Countertop Clear Ice Maker (it was a stretch for us) do yourself a favor and buy it.You won’t be disappointed.

Only drawback is the cubes drop as a brick of cubes, but once you get used to the machine, and freeze the ice for later... best true, clean ice I've had. Yes, it's clear, clean ice.

This is easy to use but the cubes freeze up on the metal plate from time to time creating a monster ice cube. Then you have to shut off the machine Waite for it to thaw out to get the ice off the plate. Then turn it back on. Other than that you get clean clear ice cubes in a short time. Pretty good machine for the money.

It is a decent machine it does work but the ice that comes out melts a lot faster than it claims for a solid piece of ice it's a bit clunky and it's noise level as it drops the ice and it often gets stuck in the tray and I have to pull it out and that ice unusable and then I have to remove it, and it melts very fast inside the container even during winter.As time has gone by it's only gotten worse I've had it for about a year now and I have had it where it just freezes in a giant chunk multiple times to work I can't use it for a day and have to let it melt.I only use distilled water to keep it as clean as possible but it does not have long quality so I would not buy this product.

I was looking for an ice maker that made small CLEAR cubes of ice, and this one fills the bill perfectly! I only use filtered water, and the ice cubes are made within 30 minutes. In fact, one load of cubes is made about every 20-30 minutes. It's a little pricey but worth it, in my opinion. Keep it clean and it won't let you down!

This is my favorite- it’s not quiet but the finished ice is well worth it.
