Dr. Seuss's irrepressible optimism is front and center in Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? The perfect send-off for grads getting ready to venture off into the world! "When you think things are bad, when you feel sour and blue, when you start to get mad . . .you should do what I do!" So begins the terrific advice of the wise old man in the Desert of Drize. This classic book provides the perfect antidote for readers of all ages who are feeling a bit down in the dumps. Thanks to Dr. Seuss's trademark rhymes and signature illustrations, readers will, without a doubt, realize just how lucky they truly are. Review: Watch the bee watcher watchers! My fav Seuss book - Love this book. Looks just like the one I remember. Review: Suess-er-if-ic ! - Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss! This is one I don't remember reading before, but it is definitely a feel-good, tongue-twisting, rhyme time read. Although I believe its basic premise of looking how bad others have it in order to feel good yourself, is inherently flawed, it is still great entertainment. I just finished reading it to the students in my classroom (I teach K-6 resource students. Kids that need specialized instruction). I had a mixed group of about 10 kids ranging from age 5-11 in the room and every one of them was riveted. Seuss had them spellbound. Some of them are English language learners too. How does he do it? How do these kids even know what is happening with so many nonsense words put in? But there is no doubt that the perfect mix for childhood fascination is built in to what Suess does, and he did it in this book with an optimistic message embedded to boot.

Love this book!
I love all Dr Suess books but this is by far one of my favorites! It has a positive message of being grateful for the life that you have which is a plus. I have a 3 month old son and he loves looking at the pictures. It's larger than most other Dr Suess books.

Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky YouAre?
I purchased this book for my daughter (a 33 year old 1st grade teacher) for her birthday. It was her favorite book as a child. She read it to her classroom and the kids loved it. No one in her class had heard of this book before. Even the school librarian had not heard of it. It is a great book and of course the illustrations were wonderful. I think the best part of the book is the true meaning of the book that no matter how bad you think you have it or how bad things are, there's always someone worse off than you are. It teaches positive thinking for all ages. My grandsons loved the book too so I know it will end up as worn out as the original book I purchased 30 years ago.

Another ride through Seussville
Although we think we have all the weight of the world sitting on our shoulders, a book comes along that asks the question Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? And who better to focus our lens on the things that matter than Dr. Seuss. With his quirky rhythmic and tongue twisting prose and hilarious illustrations of off the beaten path creatures and scenarios, Seuss takes readers through his adventurous world that begins with an old man in the Desert of Drize telling young Duckie that "Some people are much more...oh, ever so muchly much-much more unlucky than you!" (Seuss 5). And within 48 pages that depicts everything one can imagine from treading through a slew of traffic to having to mow yards of grass that never ceases to stop growing. By the time the book ends, the old man once again advises Duckie, "Don't grumble! Don't stew! Some critters are much-much, oh, ever so much-much, so muchly much-much more unlucky than you!" (Seuss 48). And as with all of Seuss's books, if read as a child or an adult, his sentiments are indeed universal and may appeal to any reader who never stops wanting to understand or simply never stop wondering how things work or not.

Great to read to the kids
Amazing book to read to the kids... Younger kids need to be read to and explained but it is a lot of fun if you do it the right way.
