RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ Hybrid Soldering Station Combo Kit - (Bulk Packaged, Non-Retail Packaging)

I had a soldering job over 100 feet from my house. An extension cord lacked current/voltage so I took a chance & ordered this thing. Admittedly, I assumed it wasn’t going to stay hot enough (being battery powered etc.) boy was I wrong! Well worth the price

I’ve had an awesome experience with this soldering iron! The battery doesn’t last for hours, so the wall power is perfect for my slow tedious projects.

The station came in a beat up, glued together box and missing the charger. The package looked like someone fished it out of the trash, but it did work.

Battery does not last long

this was a christmas present. i opened it past the thirty day return period. the battery does not charge. it is dead. i was out of town a great deal of january because of my father was in hospice. after his funeral i came back and started to deal with things. the battery is not charging at all. it is hard to believe it has only a 30 day warranty especially since it was never used. reflects badly on the inventory that is shipped from this firm

The company I work for initially bought me the Milwaukee portable soldering iron which SUCKED. I used it twice and the plastic collar that holds the heating element melted and made the iron unusable. I found this iron while looking for a replacement and I have been extremely happy with it. I've used it on several jobs in the field and it does great. Heats up fast, is pretty decent on battery life and the wand is small enough to fit into some awkward spaces. The only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is that it doesn't have a digital temp. readout but, after using it a few times, it's fairly easy to tell where to set it for the best results. The cord could be a bit longer too.

I liked it a lot for the first week... then it just quit working

I purchased this unit on a sale without the battery. Nice that you can plug an extension cord directly into it and use it without the battery, but the unit is too stupid to realize you are not on battery power and still continues auto shut off. So after a few mins it will just cut off and you start to use it and it won't melt solder! Then you have to press the button and wait, wait, wait until it heats up again. Second thing I dislike is the wand cord is almost as stiff as a solid wire. See pic where it just stands up. If you don't watch yourself the cord will get hung in the spring and can melt your cord. If find myself constantly fighting with it - just a testament to the cheapness of Ryobi brand.
