Taking Core Values a Step Further
If you're like me, you've read a lot of management/business/strategic planning type books. They all tell you about the importance of measurable goals, of knowing where you're headed, and of having a mission statement and set values.Where "The Value of Core Values" exceeds all others is in driving home the point that core values are not a set-it-and-forget-it thing. They are non-negotiables that should influence every aspect of your organization. This is accomplished through practical advice couples with real world case studies from successful organizations.I had many "aha!" moments while reading this book. I was able to identify many instances and organizations that I've belonged to in my life that either were or were not living their core values, and I was often surprised by which were which.Organizations must stick by their professed values. This book will put you and your organization on the right track. I highly recommend picking up a copy.

Reading the Value of Core Values was like uncovering a treasure!
I find Lisa's book is an essential guide for individuals (from all leadership levels) that seek success and a a deep sense of fulfillment in what they do. The stories from real leaders in Lisa's book who live by the core values approach as described in The Value of Core Values, are truly inspirational; I vicariously experienced through these stories, organizational cultures that were pure and deep-seated in truth and authentic character.Having led a family ice cream company for over 20 years in Honduras and now recently starting up a US based operation, I feel uplifted and motivated to implement The Value of Core Values in my upcoming business!

MUST READ for your Business to Prosper!!!!
Let me first say any personnel in management, from a lower level supervisor up to the CEO of the company should invest and read thoroughly The Value of Core Values. Entrepreneurs looking to start their own business should definitely get involved too! Also, any business that's looking to improve ethics, employee retention, integrity and profits. This book is well written and simply outstanding! The Author, Lisa Huetteman really shows the reader her passion on being an effective business consultant and individual all at the same time. What you'll learn is Five Keys to Success using core values that your company MUST design and adhere too. This is a serious matter that requires thought. These core values should never be compromised and your company should only operate by these values. There simply not something you take lightly. How many times have we all been the victim of unethical business practices and poor customer service? This book gives plenty of life experiences of how, when you do the right thing all the time it comes back to pay you even larger returns. Getting over on your customers and ignoring the backbone of your company's ethical identity is detrimental to your company's success. Also it helps to weed out employees who have no interest in supporting your company's core values. This in turn helps the business operate in the proper direction. Treating customers and employees as dollar signs is doomed to fail. Executives, Managers and Owners share their experiences on how when they implemented core values and stuck by them. Once this was done, their company thrived!!!My favorite life example is when Kevin Sheridan founder of Rutgers Painting says: "problems are opportunities to be heroes."If all businesses operated using solid core values, and they took them seriously , our economy would be a much better place! The ones who have NO interest in operating an ethical business and love getting over, don't waste your time on this book. The reason being, is that it won't make any sense to you. Not for any fault of this book, but simply because your thought process is too self-centered and twisted. I loved The Value of Core Values and you will too! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who values business ethics and integrity. Lisa talks about her garden often in this book. By living core values you indulge the world to see the beautiful flowers and fruit from within! Get this book!!!

The Value of Core Values
The first time I met Lisa, she asked me what my company's core values were? Being relatively new to the Global Infonet organization, I frankly, did not know. I stammered out something about 'truth and integrity', because I felt fairly confident that we had those values based on my brief experience with the principals. As I read the book and began to research my own company more thoroughly, I realized that I truly worked for a company that not only stated their core values, but lived them out in practice. My company does custom software development, an industry that I have been involved with for nearly 30 years. Many custom software projects fail due to poor planning, poor definition, poor execution, or many other factors. My company incorporates our core values into our development process to assure that our projects are successful. These values include Simplicity, Transparency, Accountability, and Trust.Every week, we review our list of projects and our CEO assures that each project is tracking according to these values. We, as a team, make sure that our projects are tracking properly by means of a weekly "scorecard" (Simplicity), and we share this information (good or bad) with the client (Transparency, Accountability), so that corrective action can be taken, and there are no surprises at the end of the project (Trust). Our client testimonials prove that our processes, rooted in integrity and fostering these core values, have lead to successful projects, and lasting truthful relationships with customers, who trust us to do the right thing, every time.Lisa's book has helped me, as the Director of New Business Development to show prospects how utilization of core values in the consulting and software industry is critical to success. Our process is designed to assure our core values are delivered in every project. I now incorporate our "Core Values" message into every presentation to new prospects and potential clients.Thank you, Lisa for enlightening me!
