Convenient and Portable Security Camera
The setup for this camera is very convenient. It's simple and takes less than a couple of minutes to setup for both the camera and downloading the app onto your smart phone. And, the camera is small and portable to quickly transfer and setup in another room. I like it very much. Thank you.

Great!!
My husband is an owner operator and I work from home. He set one up in his truck and I one at my desk, we love them!! Great quality, rarely goes “offline”, and the sound when activated is really clear. Night vision works great, he and I both are pleased and enjoy being able to see one another.

OK Camera, but the system information is VERY misleading. Poor design of camera.
It seems like a good camera, but I'm sending it back as it is very misleading and poor system design:1. Base is VERY hard to separate from the camera. Poorly designed interlocking. Finally got it separated after 10-15 minutes.2. Then mounted (screwed) the base to the cabinet where I wanted it (no screws provided!)3. Then hard to remount the camera to the base (point #1). Very, very flimsy plastic and worried I would break the camera.4. Then I went to setup the camera. I have two prior DLink cameras but this one required a new upgraded software (OK). After upgrading, it requires you to scan a QR code for the camera. But the QR code is only on the bottom of the base (really, really stupid design), so I spent another 30 minutes to remove the camera (gently so as not to break it), unscrew the base from the cabinet and scan the QR code.5. The camera works, but I bought it with a 128GB microSD card because my use is to record 24 x 7 like with the rest of my cameras BUT you can't do that (you might be able to if you buy the additional web storage subscription they try to sell you. Why do they have a microSD slot if you can't use it????ALL IN ALL, a disaster. I'm returning the camera. It may work for some people but it doesn't work for me and their sales documentation is GROSSLY MISLEADING!!! Time to do more research and move from DLink to another vendor.

The camera won't connect to the app and to my phone
Tried many times, reseted multiple time as instructed, and it won't work. Very disappointed by the quality. The only reason I bought this camera was because I trusted the D Link brand...on't waste your money and time. Buy from other brand.

No web interface - flimsy hinge
Dlink used to make such nice cameras. I must have over 30 of them. It seems their newer cameras (including this DCS-8300LH) lack a web interface. So, you are 100% stuck with the dlink phone app with no other way to do anything with this camera. You cannot change ports. You cannot use a third party app. You cannot even adjust video settings. Also, and I assume this is just my refurbished unit, the hinge that connects the base to the camera (manual tilt function) is so loose, you cannot really set this and expect it to stay in place. And there is no pan adjustment at all, so you better be sure you mounted it where you want the view. You can, however turn the entire camera in the housing if you want to ceiling mount or mount sideways. Shockingly, some other new dlink cameras lack the ability to ceiling mount (either physical or software adjustment to flip the image right side up).
