Review: I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK!!!!! - I don't often feel the need to write reviews, but a day with this machine has changed that. I was a bit dubious that it would fall to bits on the second log, but I have put it through its paces today. I had two shelters full of logs that before I was barely making any impression on with an axe. I didn't know where to turn, the winter drawing on and I had to clear these huge round discs, all of them hard wood, and over fifteen inches in diameter. As well, there were some extremely solid logs where a major branch joined the trunk. I tried to hire a log splitter, that proved non-viable, and I was very concerned about the strain on my back, of using an axe to attack them. But the Logmaster arrived, quickly, and it has aquitted itself marvellously. Assembly Is easy, just the two control handles really. I did dutifully fit the two plates that protect the hands on the handles, but I took them off, and don't think I would bother again. Any flying logs after splitting tend to fly off in the opposite direction, and all day I never felt the need to protect my hands. But I was concerned about anyone walking past the other end of it, they can fly off the splitter very dramatically indeed! And these plates prevent the log splitter from being wheeled and stored in an upright position, which is really handy facility. And basically it has barely missed a trick all day. It makes short work of all parellel grained logs, and the knack of how to present them on the machine develops fairly quickly. The big heavy discs were all split easily, and then into quarters and so on. Every now and then one of the really solid looking joints would make the machine groan a bit, but one stops, tries it in a a different direction, and it always, always "got its man!!" The only problems I had with the logs that had been split were pulling them apart, strands of wood between them can be very tenuous, and for this I used a combination long handled lump hammer and axe. I made this myself, but I found the combination of the weight and a sharp edge finished the separating of the split logs most easily. Actually, I realized eventually that the machine did that separating process itself, at first I stopped the machine's cleaving process quickly, but latterly realized that letting the machine push though the log after it had split it tended to separate the two halves quite well. I don't expect to have to use it again for most of next year, so many did I split today, but if I were going to use it regularly I would devise a yard or so high dais for it, kneeling behind it on the floor gets a bit of a pain, which is what I had in my back and knees afterwards, but only from bending and stacking the split logs. In an attempt to make this huge batch easier to split with an axe, I had had them all drying outside for most of the year, but it didn't do much good. The next batch we buy, I will split them immediately, and that will aid drying by splitting them down. Moist logs would not bother this machine, I am sure. The invisible benefit of this machine is that I have the peace of mind that I don't have to over reach myself with an axe ever again. At my age, a twinge in the back can so easily lead to more serious issues, and It is simply not worth the risk. Yes I know I have worked today, my knees and back are sore, but that will be better tomorrow, whereas the worry of a pulled back can last for months. Just not worth it, and the money spent was easily worthwhile. If what I say rings any bells, swallow your manly pride, put the axe to one side and get one of these....you will not regret it for a second.
Review: WOW!!!!!!!! - I have had logs at home that I just could not face with an axe, oak logs that are about 3 years old, they range from around 15" round and are about 12" deep huge heavy things. This machine is fantastic it just slices through them with the minimum of effort, it is well made, strong yet you can use it where you want ( within reach of a power supply). The motor is good and quiet, so easy to use. I wish I had had one years ago. I did my homework on these machines and in my oppinion it has paid off, I went for the bigger surface area and so glad I did. Fantastic !!!!! I also had a very speedy hastle free delivery from the supplier. hope this helps Garry Sharp

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Re-appraisal
*by R***S on 25 October 2016*

This is a re-appraisal. After a 'shaky' start I can now report that it seems to be working as it should. It takes a few minutes to get up to speed but after that it seems to handle pretty well anything. My initial rating of poor prompted an early response from the seller who offered good service & advice. It did seem to cut-out in warm weather in my wood shed but hauling it outside seemed to help. So all-in-all it seems to be OK. It is very heavy & does need to be on a stand, about waist height or it will play havoc with your back. I think the two handle dead-man arrangement is very good (once you have it at waist height). Am I pleased I bought it ? ~ Yes. Russell Coombs
