I was very happy to receive my first order. Then I’d made a 2nd purchase and received the 3rd bag as a gift. The first order was just like the picture advertised, but the 2nd and 3rd looked like they were covered in sugar power or appeared to be moldy. They felt dried and almost crispy to touch. Too bad I couldn’t return them. Very disappointing! My second picture shows the difference in sizes after soaking a little. The one on the left hand side was the 2nd purchase, right side was from the first bag. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Small and time consuming *by N***Y on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2020* These guys are clean and nice, but very small, about the size of a quarter. I started by soaking them for 24 hours . . . then another, but the extra day didn't help, they were still pieces of rubber. I tried tenderizing the bejesus out of them with a Jaccard and a hammer, but no real help.So, the only way to really use these is to soak them overnight and then simmer them . . . and simmer them, and then do it some more. I ended up cooking for ten hours, chopped them and made white chowder, which was actually quite good.So, as a abalone chowder product, if you're willing to put in the work, you'll end up with a tasty bowl of soup, for about $20 a serving. Which in abalone terms, is not that bad. Otherwise, I really can't think of a use for them. Maybe simmered longer they would soften up enough to use in a stir fry or something, although I'm not sure the flavor works with vegetables.
