Does the metal bowl come apart from the black container? Otherwise I don’t see how I can fit it in my freezer drawer.

There was a container to put in the freezer. TBH, I returned mine as the performance was very poor.

Does the ice cream come up hard and dry or soft like gelato?

The ice cream is soft scoop, you can then freeze this for a firmer set, but the ice cream will be soft and creamy not hard and dry.

How long does it take to make ice cream? And can I make vegan ice cream too?

How much does it make (say compared to a tub of ice cream, does it make several portions?), does it stay soft scoop when frozen after its made?

Best not to overfill as the volume increases as it’s being made. So approx 700ml. But you can makes several batches as it only takes 20-25 mins( depending on recipe). It doesn’t stay soft scoop when you freeze after make but take it out of freezer for a short while before using . It tastes SO much better than ice cream that you buy so definitely worth the effort!
